Rolling on loot, how does it work?

Well, I never found out how did it actually work when people rolled the same thing.
At first I thought it was a random number (Yan Dere rolls Greed, 45!) and the highest would win, then I saw a 2 getting the weapon and then I thought it was the lowest, but every time I see it I just can't figure out how it works! XD
Can you explain it please?

Highest roll wins. You cannot roll the same thing. Once a roll is made that number is reserved and cannot be rolled by anyone else in the group.

Need beats every greed roll no matter what the numbers are.

I meant "when people roll on the same loot piece".
For example, if during Amdapor Keep a coffer contains a Strategos Ring, one party member passes and the other three members roll Greed on it, how does the game decide who to give the loot?

There are 3 options when rolling for an item. Need, Greed and Pass. If you chooses Need for the item any Greed rolls are infereior than yours. Its the exemple you descibred at post #1, the guys who won the item with a 2 roll selected Need for it, the other guy who rolled Greed with a roll of 45. He could had rolled 100 and he would still looses for the Need.

The Need option is available if you can wear the item. Ex: Mind item drops and you beeing a healer, the Need option will be available to you. As for the tank and the other DPSs, only Greed and Pass options will be selectable.

In this situation, greed takes priority over pass so the game will "randomly" roll numbers on the other 3 and whoever has the highest roll will get the item. You can see in your chat log who rolls what number.

If you lost to someone rolling a 2, when you rolled higher as Greed, the person who won rolled Need.
