I demand gathering FATEs!

Gathering FATEs! Think about it:

• Some poor man has rocks rocks all over his lawn and needs some miners to clear them for him.
• Maybe a farmer needs some help harvesting crops in her field.
• The fish to be prepared for a feast have been stolen and more are required.
• A wall of vines blocks the way and only the botanists of Eorzea can clear the way!
• An near-invincible golem has appeared and it's only weakness is being mined to death!

And please, add RNG drop of HQ materials just like when killing mobs in FATEs.

Sounds exactly like Leves are setup right now if you read the flavor text... (for the first few examples anyway)

Levemates have to be unlocked with a DoW/DoM class though. Sometimes people don't have a DoW/DoM class high enough level to do leves for the appropriate DoL level.

Edit: If I am wrong on this, please tell me how to do higher level DoL leves without a higher level DoW/DoM. Thanks.

Yes! And the other difference between this and Leves is that FATEs don't require an allowance. Also, it helps people get more excited about gathering when there are cool events going on for them.

Some more ideas:
* Meteorite touches down (Miner)
* Gather wood enhanted from Svara's flame breath after/during the Svara fate chain (Botanist)

This sounds great. Good way to keep the boredom out of repeatedly going to node after node. Atleast you can run to a blue circle and do it for some slightly story related reason and get some good XP.

But then those damn kids would be on his lawn again! What to do?!?!?

This sounds like avery good idea to me. The very minor problem will be having to switch classes all the time

Hopefully they will just target the FATEs primarily around relevant gathering areas (though it wouldn't be terrible to drop your sword and grab your pick for an opportunistic FATE :D). I really like the idea though. The monotony of the post-30 grind is awful and you end up with the choice of filling your entire inventory/retainers with garbage or selling your mats for 10gil/piece because EVERY DoL has to grind out 400 of the thing. FATEs to jump into would bring that forced supply down a little and make DoL a little more lucrative, like it should be. Our only choices are grind, GC dailies, or Leves, which you burn through so fast on these classes.

Having another alternative might curb some of the jealousy we feel toward DoW & DoM with their dungeons and FATEs to progress besides the grind/Leve option.

What I thought would be cool is DoL/DoH combined arms dungeons. Like for example instead of taking charge as a combat class through a dungeon you have to gather raw materials (in the dungeon), then the crafters in the party would turn them into items (dungeon-only recipes so they can't be prepared beforehand) for NPCs to equip to push through a dungeon, and rewards would be based on the quality of the materials gathered/made affecting the NPCs' effectiveness. I would LOVE something like that to be implemented in the future.
