Relic Reborn WHM melding

Not sure if this is exactly the place to put this but, I'm confused about the materia melding on the second parts of the relic weapons. I'm trying to get my WHM relic, so the quest said to meld 2 Quicktongue III materias to a Madman's Whispering Rod.

I had a friend do it for me since my alchemist is like level 10 or something, however I only noticed after they melded it that it didn't fulfill the quest requirements. So I checked the materia, and underneath the second one it's red and only has spell speed +5 instead of +6. So I can only assume that this is what is messing with it? Not sure if it has anything to do with the second Quicktongue III being a salvaged materia that I got from a cracked that I had from 1.0.

Is there any way to fix this? The materia and matter cost a lot of money, and I'd hate to bother my friend again.

If you've melded the 2 Quicktongue III onto the rod, that should be all you need. The actual stats it gives to the item is irrelevant (in fact, the 2nd parry you meld onto the WAR weapon adds +0 parry). It doesn't matter where they came from (mine were from cracked exchange as well), so you're going to need to show a screenshot of your item in question, because everything sounds correct.

Sorry that it took a while, I have school in the morning. As you can see, 2 Quicktongue III materia, but one of them is red and it doesn't fulfill the quest requirements. Unless I'm 100% dumb and I'm just overlooking something incredibly obvious.

Just out of curiosity, can you turn the rod in to Gerolt if you unequip it? I know that you need to have your Relic unequipped when you want to trade it in for your Relic+1 (while it is equipped, it tells you that you don't have the required items to create the +1), so I imagine it'd be the same with this.

The rod itself looks correct, so I'm not sure what else it'd be unless it got bugged somehow.

...I am completely dumb. It wasn't counting it because I had the weapon equipped, since I had been using it as my main weapon for a while. Sorry for the useless post, but maybe some others can learn from my mistakes lol.
