I've been messing around with it and because of this game's horrible Pre-calculated damage recording this ability turns out not to be reliable for dodging. It seems the game is still reading your character at point A while you travel to point B.. so if point A get's attacked you still get hit.. if point B get's attacked you'll get hit also. The range of it is also pretty short.... and the animation isn't fast enough.
Anyone done good experiments on it ? It just bothers me to have an ability that could have had potential but it's just not working for me.
Has Anyone found a good use for Aetherial Manipulation ?

Only Thing I can think of is in Garuda or Ifrit if you're in the wrong place in the wrong time

I use it in Hard mode Ifrit if Im caught off guard when he clones himself into the charge. And its really good for the final boss in AK when you get tethered by the pulsing orb just wait for it to drop then Aetherial Manipulate away.

whenever you want to move towards someone: it's great because it can be used off GCD so you can spend a firestarter proc and cast teleport, no downtime at all :V
