Welcome to Ifrit Hardmode

Title was the first thing a pick up group said to my party upon joining this instance. A fellow party member was typing "First time here, sorry" Before He could type the sentence out he was dead b/c these two or three decided to go ahead and start before we even had protect up. Were gonna call these three HPL#1, #2, and the OK one. In case anyone was wondering what this stands for its Hopelessly Pathetic Lifestyle. Three came from my world, two I believe were solo, and the HPL12 and their OK one.

In an effort to not violate the ToS I wont post their character names although I do have them if needed :rolleyes: And one chimed in
"HPL#1: Welcome to Ifrit Hardmode"
"HPL#2: "LMAO..."

So we get to start the battle "for real" as one of them said. I wanted to take a little bit of time to explain some things to my two new guys and I will do so before we register the fight from now on.

Anyway as some of you probably know learning primal hardmode mechanics can be a task, being grouped with players like this can make it exhausting and really ruins the fun off gate. It doesn't create a welcoming atmosphere for new people trying to learn the mechanics nor does it help anybody that after two wipes the one I decided to dub "OK" said he was going "afk" and his two lackies decided to pull Ifrit towards the group immediately for a few more wipes. (Would this be an example of "Grieving" another player?:confused: Behavior like this should not be tolerated but thats just my humble opinion.)

HPL#1: "We should put this on youtube, this $*** is funny."

So after a few more wipes given to us by HPL#1, they decide to start playing "for real" again. So we get a little further than we got the previous attempts because people were learning to dodge which was good.
I dubbed the OK one this b/c he actually gave me a decent suggestion to turn ifrit a little bit while I was main tanking him. That was his/her only redeeming quality. They ended up leaving anyway after one more fail and that was that.

1) Did their behavior violate anything about the ToS for playing FFXIV: ARR ?
2) At what point did gamers become so hostile towards one another?. This isn't a FPS, there isn't PvP available yet. Edited:Not trying to stereotype but make a comparison. In a fighting game, fps, strategy online game most of the time the objective is to "attack" the other players. Sorry if my wording confused anyone.

1) cursing and swearing itself is a violation of the code of conduct (not necessarily the ToS but you're still not supposed to do it
2) pelase don't stereotype FPS and PvP, not every competitive community is like that. PvP is coming to this game and it's not going to make this worse.

I'm sorry you had this experience. I would get used to at least people leaving the fight after a few wipes (which isn't a violation of anything), but the way you describe these guys treating you and your friends is, unfortunately, what many in this community have become.

Them continually pulling Ifrit with the obvious intent to grief you could be a violation of the code of conduct/terms of service, and is a reportable offense. Any harassment they gave you in chat is, as well.

I would, however, avoid generalizing. Relatively few FPS players, or those who enjoy PVP, or whatever little group you want to create around a genre or gaming community, are the jerks. The majority are a-ok.

Thanks for your reply, im really not trying to generalize but I have been seeing this trend of gamer develop for quite a while. And there just seems to be more and more these days. Really I just feel bad for those whom which I described having to act that way towards random people. How is kiting ifrit to kill the group before they have even finished loading not a act of a Player Killer? To me its no different from the troll from FFXI kiting a group of mobs with the intent of killing another player.

One more question: Do I need the world they are from when reporting someone?
