Request: Additional Hotbar Customizations

Other MMO's allow me to fully customize the configuration of my hotbars (SWTOR). They allow me to not only move my hotbar position, but also the configuration of the individual hotbar layouts. For instance, if I wanted my hotbar one to mimic the 12-key layout of my Razer Naga mouse, then I could. If I wanted to have a hotbar be square, or rectangle, or only have 3 slots, or 12, or 9, I could.

This is what I want for FFXIV. I want to reconfigure the shape of my hotbars. I can't be the only person who would die for this.

Also, is anyone else annoyed with all of the hotbar functions that are not explained in the game? Such as CTRL + Home command to change the resolution of the hotbars? I am. We need our help files and commands to be more transparent.
