Anyone else hoping we will have to unlock jobs with quests in the likeness of XI? I really miss obtaining my jobs that way. I want backstories for my jobs :)
I do personally, but not because of the backstory, but because it gives me a small but worthwhile accomplishment.
I think it would be much better than just "Go talk to so-and-so to be a [job]."
I vote.....
Quest for new jobs! Gives you something to do! They should build fame in as well!
I liked the quests for the jobs for both the accomplishment and the story. I thought they were really fun, and you actually had to do something to become another class, and not just have it handed to you.
I would love to see quests for advanced jobs. I many fond memories of doing so in FFXI, but, I dont see it making to much sense in our current system since "X" weapon makes you "y" job.
i'd love having quests for advanced jobs. Like a certain class reaching max rank unlocking the quest of job X, Y and Z.
Also, i'd love to see if they make a system where you cannot obtain every advanced job (an option for discarding an advanced job would be needed, but what's the problem of it? =P).
I offered them a suggestion similar to this...lemme show an example of what i suggested: Let's call armory classes A1, A2 and A3 and the advanced jobs J1, J2, J3, J4, J5 and J6
A1 can unlock the quest of J1, J4 and J5
A2 can unlock the quest of J2, J5 and J6
A3 can unlock the quest of J3, J4 and J6
Here you see that we have a job net...while J1 can only be obtained thru A1, J2 thru A2 and J3 thru A3, multiple classes give you access to J4, J5 and J6. This would allow players to pick the path they want to access the jobs they want the most.
i'd love quest and challenges for jobs, but not only for other jobs ofc. I would love to have them for skills, weaponskills, spells etc. as well
I would adore something like that. But don't make it too easy.
Easy solution: You cannot equip, for example, the Summoner's weapon set until you have completed the job quest to unlock it.
The Summoner's Pilgrimage
Venture out to the Aetheryte in Thanalan, La Noscea and The Black Shroud to visit the Aetherytes at certain camps. Touch the Aetheryte with this piece of ancient wood, to attune it to the Umbral, Astral and some other bral. Once you have charged it with the power of these 3 crystals, you will need to collect one of each elemental types essence (key items) from around Eorzea. Once the wood has been charged with all of them, bring it back to XXX NPC in Gridania (because where else would summoners hail from) and he will attempt to forge a staff that is attuned to all the elemental plains, allowing you to call forth these sprites representing all the elements, and bend them to your will.
Complete the quest and:
>> You receive the Summoner's Stave and have now been shown how to wield this mighty weapon <<
This gets rid of the loophole where crafters could just knock up a higher level version of the staff for the job, allowing you to skip the quest. Simple. :)
Another thought for weapon skills:
Mastering the Blades
You have been training hard as a fast and deadly assassin, but you have not yet learned all the possibilities those daggers can yield. If you feel you are ready to transcend your abilities (Rank 30), and gain an even more powerful skill, then visit XXX NPC found in the Assassins Guild, to learn more.
Run to guild.
Welcome, Assassin. XXX NPC sent word that you were headed here to learn more about those blades you wield, and so you shall, but in order to do so, you will need to prove yourself worthy of this ancient technique. Venture out to Coerthas and slay the creature known as XXX NM name. Cut out, and return to me with it's still beating heart, as the blood you will drink needs to be prepared fresh. Remember though, this creature is extremely powerful, and unless kept under incapacitation, it will most likely rip you asunder. (The creature needs to be held under a certain status change, and will double in power for every party member, the quest giver can even give you a Guild Leve which is only completable out of a group. If the creature actually lands a hit, it will instant kill you).
Task complete
You have returned, and now it is time for you to drink the blood of XXX NM, prepared with a special mix of XXX stuff, which will allow you to see the weaker points of attack in certain creatures. Once you learn this technique, you will become unstoppable in your bloodlust, and deadly in your precision.
Welcome to the Assassins Guild....
>> You have unlocked the weapon ability "Pinpoint Strike" <<
