I for one will be using the transfer service once it becomes available,It made me think about which one i'm going to choose&what are the advantages/disadvantages of switching?
not only is there the gil limitations on transfering, that wont bother me personally as i'm only on around 800K,but some people may not be able to feel like they can move if they have a fortune.
but my main question is about the differences between the high/low conjestion servers;
what impact this has upon the markets? in a less conjested server,does mean more/less people are lower levels.because i personally would love to transfer to one with more lower level people as i'd be needed more as a 50 alch. because there would be fewer of us.
this making any sense?but perhaps it doesn't matter,there are so many of everything that maybe the differences between high/low populated is marginal when it comes to profits on markets?

i just don't want legacy characters to be able to transfer to non-legacy servers. if they do please strip every legacy only item (mounts, tattoos, event items, etc) because a lot of people don't want to see that stuff running around on their server which is one of the major reasons some people choose to pick non-legacy that and the economy is different on a non-legacy server.

The servers not listed as low population and not congested are probably going to see a lot of movement. Yet, who really knows? About moving gil, etc., take and buy stuff which is generally hard to get with your excess gil on your own server (diversify it), and move the stuff as items that way then sell and get gil back. If they don't let items get transferred, then I don't know.
Edit: one problem for my group is we have our FC, and the progress we've made there. We are a small group and rather not lose that benefit. Plus, in a month a fairly heavily populated server last week might be empty. It's a total roll of the dice it seems right now if moving is done simply to find more people. My guess is we will end up staying put on our server, which is appearing more and more this week as slowing down a lot, and waiting a month or two and seeing then where the action is, and possibly moving at that point. -

A month down the line, Cactuar might actually be a pretty optimal server. I'll decide at that point whether I'm going to bail or stick around.Quote:

To me the difference between congested servers and non-congested servers is the difference between feeling like an MMO and feeling like a single player FF title. Balmung is crowded. There are lots of people in every zone doing fates, shouting for dungeon parties etc. Compare that to Atomos, whenever I log on to that server (last time was a couple weeks ago) I could literally play for a good half hour or more before I even saw another player. I could run through multiple zones, without seeing so much as a single shout. It felt desolate in comparison to Balmung, which feels very much alive.
As for the market... Balmung is a legacy server, it's still in flux. -

Well i'm on Behemoth, and i am happy enough there, i assume its a heavily populated server as there are people everywhere...
thinking about it, and reading what Mishakai said above, i assumed "low" populus servers just meant less... not empty.
empty would be useless.... but as you say, they could be the ones filling up...
and are people who are moving more or less likely to be a high level? i actually think they might be a high level...
for low level people, other than for moving to be with friends on other servers, there's no real reason to switch servers from a populated one during the levelling up period. there's no raids to do, everything is cross server pug'd... so people who're going to be moving are higher level people as they might not beable to find an FC to suit them, or like me the time zone difference being on an NA server based in the UK for raiding... which is the opposite of what i was hoping for anyway..

What is the gil cap that you can take with you and what are you allowed to take with you? Can I take everything from my retainers and my person? Kinda thinking of moving to a non legacy server also I'm not a legacy account.

i dont think theyve given out the limits yet, but you will be able to bring everything in your items and stuff, however you will have to take all ur sales off or ull lose them, and it could take up to a couple of days, during which u may not be ableto log in.
they said they're going to do them on a first come first serve basis.
which makes me think they're literally sitting there with a list doing them one by one by hand instead of it being automated. lol
but this is the biggest game ever from a japanese company. perhaps the level of people has somewhat overwhelmed them. as they 100% did not anticipate this level of usership... is that even a word... probably not.
