Another potentially awesome game does down the drain..

If these forums are anything to go by, this game will soon suffer the fate of all other mmos I've played in the last 4 years.

1. People start playing mmo, game does great.
2. People run out of content.
3. Some people start complaining.
4. Half the playerbase starts complaining.
5. People say "Fine then just leave."
6. Game dies/Goes F2P and begs me to come back on facebook.

Why can't we just have an mmo that is designed to last longer than 3 months?

I'm at the point where I'm scared to log in because all my time will be wasted anyway. :(

I'd like to see you try and make a game that lasts for 3 months when there are people playing 16 hours a day.

So you don't want to play because other people are complaining about the game? Did I read that right?

Game released less than a month ago... It takes time.

Technically any time put into a game is wasted time. No one gains anything from it but entertainment. If your not playing for entertainment then your probably playing games for the wrong reason.

Dollar for dollar you can't find a cheaper entertainment imo. Play for fun and the moment and if it fails it fails if it does not it does not. Eventually all good things come to an end.

That's what happens when the entire game is based off of end game. People play through the content and leave to come back a couple of months later for the new content. Its the modern MMO, still this is on par with the rest if them and shows promise so I'm willing to sub.

Keep in mind only a small portion of the active players post in the forums.

Most of the people that bought the game are, well, playing the freakin' game.

The problem isn't the game, it's the community. People play for insane amounts of time(as Lunar said) on a game that just launched. This is already more content than most single player games have. People are just too impatient to wait for more content and have no clue how much time/money/manpower it takes to make it.

And the odds of this going f2p are very slim. Not only did Yoshi say that he would shut the servers down before considering f2p, but this game is developed in house. It has all the same criteria that has kept every other long lasting MMO alive. A previous fan base + no outside investors to have to answer to if things look bad. As long as they break even they could keep this game running for a decade.

The biggest issue is the rate that players consume MMO's now-a-days. If anyone here started in Everquest, you got dropped in a zone you knew nothing about, no newbie quests, just a dagger, some food and SNAKES to kill. It took time, nobody complained that they couldn't level to max in 2 weeks, they KNEW that was impossible. People didn't mind the time sinks of EXPLORING without a Mount. There were no fast teleports. If you had to get to a city, you ran through 5 or 6 zones risking death and time!
Those games are long gone. Wow changed the way people play MMOs. Faster paced, Max Level is the entire goal, all the good stuff is after max level
Its really hard to explain, and i know some people won't understand, but its both the Developers and Communities fault. The developers for not making it a little TOUGHER to progress and putting more focus on game play then lvl 50 speedrun gearz. and the community's for playing non-stop since release and wondering why there is nothing to do anymore.
