Thought FFXIV was going to support addons?

So... some of you may have seen the parser/dps meter for FFXIV in posts here and there. I was of the impression that this game was going to support addons. However, someone I know has gotten banned for using a parser. It also said it was their Final Fantasy XI service account was suspended even though they are suspended from Final Fantasy XIV... which makes no sense...So, did I misunderstand something here? Is this game not going to have addon support after all? A parser literally harms noone in any way. I'd like to hear official word on SE's stance on this if possible...

Addons are not the same as using third-party software that interfaces with the game. Addons would use an in-game mechanic to operate. Third-party interfaces, or to borrow an XI term windowers, don't. They subvert game functionality to instill unintended functionality. This is against the ToS and that is what got your acquaintance banned. Addon support is coming, it was just delayed due to more pressing issues, like server stability and network quality.

The game will support lua script addons (Note that the license for lua script is already in the System menu) but the support isn't in the game yet They said something like 6 months down the road I believe before the game came out.

currently existing programs that interact with the executable are technically against the terms of service.

I think i remember hearing "8 months after launch" for a timeframe for add-ons.
