NPC Speak
So.. I really don't understand why every NPC has to talk like a wizard or pirate or british royalty. I speak some japanese and I've never seen a pirate wizard dialect, so I can't help but wonder why was it so overdone for the English version?
I know it's a small thing, but it really does make a huge impact. To be honest, I really stopped reading most of the story/quests because it feels like reading a story my high school English teacher would assign and have you analyze with a 500 word essay.
Probably too big of a deal to correct at this point, but for future content, please dial back on the formality. I really doubt that the people I've met in the story, given their background stories, would have the education to talk the way they do.
Then again maybe 'tis best I speak naught for fear of those who would perhap upon mine own thread, with intent to douse its essence in the fires of the crystals...

British speak sounds fancy to us 'Muricans. Why do you think high fantasy in movies is always done with British accents a la Lord of the Rings?
Or would you rather have your elves sounding like Larry the Cable Guy?

That's why I put it to Japanese. >_>

It's a dialect thing. For Eorzeans, this way of speech is normal and nothing special. It seems strange and foreign to you, being raised on Earth.

I have no issues with it. I see it for what it is, simply just dated terminology.
