Some people in this game are just so unbelievably insistent on their trash playstyles they'd rather do stuff like that than focus on getting the run done quickly and it drives me nuts. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

if its unsync item level also helps to go faster too, but most level 50 dungeons can be solo'd.

It was solo. I've been trying to see which instances can be done solo (eg which can be done faster solo than a party) and on a whim I decided to try Castrum because that's the only one that seems too much of a faceroll for a party of 8.

Oh right I did not read the solo part. For the "If the DPS feels low" you really just need more experience or try find 2 dps that you can trust to do well, or play the job yerself (assuming yo can perform well on it) this is how you truely learn if someone is doing rotations wrong or how long it typically kills off something. Even without this, there is a few things you can do to check, and I tried to explain this in other threads.

THE biggest thing you can do is keep an eye on that monster listing and pay attention how fast each drops HP wise. You should very quickly pick up if someone is single target rotation on a pack (but to really object you need to know the job and what AoEs they can do, Ninja for example gets AoE damage very late where BRD and MCH can rip things apart in sastasha (note if archer, like archer 15, they do not have aoe yet)) If you do not know the job you can say something like "I noticed there is too much focus damage on one target where you are pulling hate, can you spread your damage or aoe more?" You do not want DPS pulling hate because it means someone is doing something wrong (DPS going full out single target when there is 3+ monsters) or the tank is bad. In either case, you having to heal dps means slower runs because it takes away opportunity for you to DPS. What you do is highlight different monsters, see the enmity list. My friend spoted even in the current expert mnks, drgs, ( i think that was it) where they would only have enmity on 1 thing, as in there was only 3 rankings on everything else where the mnk or drg was a very high 2 or even 1 on one thing. This is very wrong and need to speak up on it. You should know what to highlight to check because something would have much lower HP then the rest of the pack.

Feel free to vid your next DF and ill explain in detail how to spot bad dps, and so on. (Though may I suggest do not block out the monster hp bar/debuffs, it will give me a lot more information then i had last time but despite that, i was sitll able to see your 3 pt members where bad, lamo)

One person cannot outperform 3, never, I do not even know why you are trying something like this, the time spent can be used on other things, like learning jobs and guiding people , vs trying to prove some point you can out perform 3 people who gear 20 levels under the DF.

I have some stupidly long main Sotry Roulettes lately...
Just yesterday, when i did Castrum Meridianum for my Whm to get him to 60 before Friday, i got into a group with no firsttimer, everyone 53-60, and it felt like half of the people were either trolls or a little overwhelmed by all the shiny pixels.
People tried mass pulling, forgetting about things we had to disable / pick up. Noone cared about dodging shiny orange areas. At the giant boss, 4 people just sat in a corner, receiving all aoe's and not trying to do anything at all. Hence they didnt get any heals, leaving them on the ground quickly. As soon as the last door to the last boss opened the tank charged right into the 6(?) giants, wiping the whole group as half of the people did nothing, and the rest couldnt keep up.
DUring the fight again Livia except us heals noone cared about cannons, adds or anything.

I have never seen a bunch of high leveled characters seem to care so little about what they were doing and do so much poop in one dungoen.

I'm not an amateur at this game Hamada. Somethings I do, I do for fun, not to prove anything. Sometimes you notice mechanics that people have long forgotten when you go solo and have to figure out a way to do it instead of trying to force DPS through it. Though in most cases, being able to play it solo without minimum ilevel lets you just gather up the trash and kill it with one or two AOE's anyway.

In the case of Castrum I had never actually seen the Colossus spawn outside the final boss area and what they do normally. When you're supposed to shoot down the ship, they actually pace back in forth in destroying the cannons. Most typical runs have people run inside turn off the alarm and then lure them back outside, but it seems like people don't even bother with the cannon trick now and just try to DPS them when they spawn. At ARR's release, people always used the cannon trick because it was faster than trying to DPS them on the spot since people didn't have full level 50 gear.

Makes me wonder what mechanics people haven't seen in The Praetorium.

As for "seems like the DPS are weak" comment, this happens much more often on the pre-50 content. You know, where people might have level 38 gear in every slot or crafting accessories for whatever reason.

You have it backwards, it is easier to get near max damage in lower DFs, and even if they don't you will not notice the skill gap like you can at 60. Anyone with a sense of time should tell the difference of a 1200 DPS aoe brd and a 4-6k one.

Regardless my offer still stands, I gauge with how you talk, you need to "research" apparently and look at job levels or gear. I do not. I know what people are pulling without those kinds of things, I just check those later to make sure I am right and to get a full picture. (esp when trying to gauge general experience level so I have an idea how talk to them) As I said before to others and you, it is important to have a sense what others do so you know exactly how much you need to DPS and heal and if the DPS is really bad, more careful on mp management, and give them advice, or tell that low dps brd to ballad you so you can make up gaps.

I'm not sure you're understanding me here. Simply looking at the party window shows you if someone is synced or not, if someone is not synced, and you look at their classes and that's the only thing they've leveled, and you look at their gear and they're undergeared for the dungeon, the question is WHY? Are they running just this dungeon? did they level grind using PotD and thus don't have gear?

So a friend in a linkshell asked if anyone wanted to do Level 50 and Leveling Roulettes. We cleared the 50 roulette pretty quickly, tank massed pull, and we had good AoE Damage.

Then we queued up for leveling roulette and got Satasha, so first dungeon in the game. I got some nostalgia since the last time I went into Satasha as a bard was the cbt (well I guess back then it would be archer but semantics).

Anyway, first thing I noticed was the healer not doing DPS and I am a member of the healer dps camp, but it was Satasha and I didn't feel like opening a can of worms by trying to suggest they try to dps. Second thing I noticed was that I immediately begin ripping aggro off the tank; then I noticed the tank wasn't synced and was a sprout so I was like, "That's fair." I am not going to give shit to a new tank; they have enough pressure on them as it is (I remember how it was). This was also the other reason why I didn't want to piss off the healer; I needed her (yeah I know it was probably a G.I.R.L.) to heal me.

So we got got to the captain's quarters door and found out we forgot to grab the keys and the tank just runs back to grab them. Only need one person to grab the keys so I just waited at the door and opened it. Then my friend (whom I just realized I forgot to give shit to for doing this) decides to just pull. Immediately, I kind of went into panic mode from the unexpected pull and proceeded to (you guessed it) rip aggro because, Twelve help me, I do not know how to hit the brakes on the DPS train (at least until I need to use Wanderer's Minuet because the Twelve know how much I suck with bard when I have to use Wanderer's Minuet; thank god for stormblood). So I began tanking this guy and the first thing I noticed was the healer not healing me and just standing there. Yeah I know the tank didn't pull, but I didn't pull either; my jack of a friend did. So I got to about 20 HP before I quickly opened a window and popped a HQ Max Potion I had from PotD. The mob then died and the healer's attempt to let me die failed.

The healer then asked me how in the nine hells was I outputting so much aggro as a bard since I have been constantly ripping aggro the entire run; I simply responded with damage. The tank wondered if they were doing something wrong but I just explained that I am synched down from my usual level, but still have way better stats than the usual characters of the synched level (I think it was like 18?); so my damage is just abnormally high. I also had Blood for Blood via cross classing so that with Raging Strikes really lets my damage spike up.

So the run continued, I kept ripping aggro, and the healer healed me; though it felt reluctant and I didn't think the healer liked me (I kept my potions on standby from that point on). We killed the boss, cleared the dungeon, I didn't get a commendation (#dpsExpendableLife), and I continued to farm Atmas (of which went much smoother when i realized I didn't have my zenith weapon equipped). I also learned to always be ready with potions.
