Yup, having HT enabled actually decreases performance these days.

Still, what I think you did mean to ask about was multithreading, which I think is used to some degree in ARR. As far as possible while having graphics devices involved, anyway.
Why you'd ask in this thread in the first place, however, is anyone's guess.

Good reason i5 was recommended for gaming over an i7 in some circles.. you don't gain anything from the HT in the i7.

If ARR can use 4 cores that is a nice improvement.. parallelization in programming is (or was when I studied and worked with) pretty difficult

With the introduction of CUDA and similar technologies, a lot more interest has been focused on algorithms with high concurrency, but very few of those applications have gone much past the "cool proof of concept" stage. If you have the interest (and an hour to wade through the thing), this is a very interesting look at highly parallel procedural terrain generation on the GPU with DirectX 10. Of course, that algorithm pertains to hundreds of concurrent calculations, instead of just 4-12 on hyperthreaded CPUs, but the research is being done.

We are a group of four people (2 girls, 2 guys) from Germany and plan on going to a server with a higher german player base for various reasons but also because one of us struggles with English and had problems finding a group in 1.0 when he was the only one of us online. Since Sargatanas partly used to be Lindblum which had the highest german population, it is either Sargatanas or Ragnarok we'll go to. Haven't decided yet @.@
Looking for german speaking players and my other post in mind, we actually look for a nice mix like you mentioned :S This is going to be hard to decide.

Btw, i was thinking about giving Tera a go while FFXIV is down, so i'm downloading the client from Tera (Europe), but i was wondering... On which server are you (the peeps in here who mentioned they had a Tera Character) playing?

I stopped playing Tera, it became too repetitive. It made me miss being able to change class on the fly like in XIV.
