I think I will try a few more times and push myself, but if it keeps being as stressful and negative as every past run as been (shout out to the group in Tam-Tara that was super friendly! the only one that has been!), leveling tank the legit way just for glamour isn't worth the trouble.

Speaking from only casual tanking experience, what they did was absolutely a dick move. Back when I played WAR for 2.0 dungeons, I never felt comfortable with large pulls, so I'd go at a slower, yet steady pace.

But then I started playing DRK. There is just something immensely satisfying about gathering a large group of enemies and using abyssal drain. Especially with Dark Arts, then refilling your MP quickly with Blood Price.

Day 3 of leveling MCH. Hit level 57 finally, so I queue into the Vault. Took about 20 minutes to get in there, but finally did. And god... I was so tempted to just leave and eat my 30 minute penalty after the first boss.

Setting the Stage: Today's party was WAR/WHM/NIN/MCH. WAR and WHM were both synced down (WAR was 60 because they had their Lux relic), and NIN and I were at level (57).

The Prelude: WHM precasted Regen right at the very start, and, of course, the entire first pull flocked to them and almost killed them. I've got my Bishop Turret out, and I am spamming my AOE skills, Invigorating when I'm at half-TP, and spamming them some more until I'm down to about 300-400 TP. Sadly, the mobs were barely at half-health! WAR was completely out of TP; NIN was sitting at full TP. WHM wasn't DPSing at all.

What Is Going On?: I thought that DPS was a extremely slow after this trend continued up until the first boss, and I normally only have my crystal ball around during Ex primals or whenever I'm raiding, but I was wondering if maybe it was me, so I opened up ACT to see what was going on. I'm not the best MCH. I kind of know what to do, and kind of have a rotation down, but whether or not it's optimal has yet to be seen.

After we all died to the third pull after the first boss (tank pulled the two mobs after the Friar, up to the two Iron Giants), I opened up my ACT to see what the heck was going on. I knew that it didn't help that the NIN wasn't AOEing at all (that much was obvious since they barely lost any TP the entire time), and the healer was already struggling just to keep everyone topped off, so I wasn't expecting them to DPS at all. So I start watching my parser.

Oh. My. God. Houston, we most definitely have a problem.

The Plot Thickens: I was doing TRIPLE the DPS that the NIN was doing. So I started watching them closer. It seemed like they were just auto-attacking. The entire time. Occasionally, ACT would register an Aeolian Edge; not sure if it was combo'd or not. I checked their status bar: they had their poison on, but no Huton. Not at all. During the entire run...no Huton. And not a single ninjutsu was ever used. I have heard of these mystical ninja that have severe allergies to any and all ninjutsu, but I had never actually seen one out in the wild, wild Duty Finder.

Intermission: Ser Grinnaux goes down with me and the WAR at the top of the DPS list. The WHM has to AFK, but the WAR has already pulled the two Iron Giants after Grinnaux. After some mild chastising from the WHM, they finally AFK'd, so we wait. They return, and we continue on our very slow way.

The Finale: We get to Ser Sherbet, and I'm already dreading this fight. I knew we weren't going to meet the DPS check, no matter how hard I pushed. NIN followed me to every fireball, so I would move to try and down another one, and they would follow me again, leaving the others at half health. Somehow, between the WAR and I, we managed to down all but one. Of course, this brings us all nearly to the brink of death, but I was ready with my Max-Potions (had started using them after we died the first time, since the WHM was sporting a level 54 weapon, and mostly NQ gear sub-58). The NIN had already LB'd before the DPS check, and when we got two LB bars, they LB'd again, and died this time. Funnily enough, the WHM didn't even bother to raise them, and we finished the boss just the WAR and I.

WAR left without a word. I said thank you, and then got the heck out of there before the other two were even out of the cutscene.

No, neither of them were new.

The Icing on the Cake/The Bonus Footnote: The NIN loved to LB. Even trash mobs. LB'd trash mobs. And then claimed misclick. I can't...I just can't...

Went into a Leveling Roulette with three friends (me tanking for the first time in a couple months) and got The Vault. A super chill healer was our random and it was an exceedingly enjoyable experience full of skilled players (well once I shook off the rust lol). I know the insane stories get more press but you have to appreciate the smooth runs too right? Looking forward to the many wipes in Stormblood that's for sure :D

It's a small thing, but the folks doing expert roulette are probably the least sympathetic audience for folks who can't bother to grind an extra 90 minutes on easy content.

I've never queued a 60 dungeon other than ARF specifically because I am not 230+ in every slot yet. I can wait for the two more nights (max) it will take, and the grind isn't that tough.

I healed a tank today who had 19k Hp and didn't use CDs in Sohm Al HM, guess who died in 1 shot? The tank because they didn't pop CDs we even cleared it took us 17 mins lmao had to pick the tank off the floor at the last boss while the ninja tanked with Keen Flurry and Perfect Dodge.

Was a PUG group too no one even cared we just laughed and yeah his gear was crap, he was new and tried his hardest to keep threat off the SMN and BRD, he could on some trash pulls but not all of em I even DPS'd and healed because he popped CDs, probably the most fun I had in awhile.

Having a summoner repeatedly dying on titan, having a WHM eat damage a lot more then needed, along with the tank ( i think?) just needed a lot more healing then needed in general, and shield using AST having 60 hps more then a whm, and here is the DPS list:

BRD>BRD>DRK> the shield using AST that was working overtime in healing> the second DRK> a 3rd BRD> the SMN that kept dying > LB> the WHM who got out healed by the sheild using AST.

Honestly, I feel that the only item requirements they need to change in order to mitigate poor performance due to equipment in DF are being able to equip non-role accessories removed - which is happening yay! - and requiring that the weapon meet the minimum level requirement in addition to the overall average.

I add the latter because earlier in this thread I posted about a Bard in Baelsar's Wall with full 270 right side accessories and left side 250. Except for their weapon which was 190. Their damage was abysmal. Like it barely took any damage off of the restraint collar when I waited 5 seconds after they immediately switched to it to gauge their dps. As far as I could tell they were doing most things right, or close enough, but their weapon was so bad that if the other dps was even slighty slowish dps they would not have been able to clear the boss.

First 3 Bosses fall easily. We have deaths, but nothing major.
Last Boss. Tank dies due to no healing. 2nd tank takes over. Dies due to no healing. 3rd tank takes over. Dies due to no healing.
Rezzes and Healer LB's everywhere.
Tanks die again one after another. Some kindly suggest that the healer start healing and stop using Cleric Stance.
Ignored.
Full Wipe.
Next round, same thing. Tanks die one after another until every single one has -30% buff. Healers don't do much besides damage. Dps blame tanks for not holding out long enough. 90% Dead people at 1% when the boss finally falls to dots.

I am all for active healers doing damage if they have time.

When I am tanking and other people start pulling mobs, the first time I pick up the mobs and politely ask them not to pull any mobs unless they are tanking.
If they keep doing pulls I let them tank the mobs - they clearly wanted to do it anyway.

Duty roulette lands me in the Wall. Things are melting pretty quickly. So after the 2nd boss and following group of trash, I decide to step out of my comfort zone and pull the remaining trash mobs. Usually I only pull the last two groups together that are on the upper floor. So I gather up the 3 groups. BRD knew exactly the right time to LB. I came close to dying, but only because I panicked at first and didn't use any cooldowns except my 30% one. Still, healer did an exceptional job. Griffon goes down pretty quickly. Probably one of my best runs of the place.
