Connecting the DoTs: A Summoner Guide

How does bane actually work? Does it spread the DoTs with the same potency when they were applied? or Does the buff/debuff after applying the dots could still increase/decrease the potency of the spread DoTs during Bane?

Example in A2S, if DoTs are casted while vulnerability is building up and i bane @ exactly 5 stacks, does my DoTs spread out to other mobs with 5 stacks of vulnerability?

DoTs spread (Bane) with YOUR buffs that were snapshot on their cast. So yes, YOUR buffs carry over from Bane. However if one target was vulnerability up and the other was not, it will not carry over the vulnerability buff. If target A had vulnerability up, you dot then Bane to target B which has resistance up, target B will take much less damage than target A.

This isn't as concise as I'd like it to be but I hope it answers the question.

the dots get buffed from vuln up and will carry it with bane to whichever gets targeted. The 5 stacks multiplies the damage and it will get that snapshot'd. Question is do you want to wait until it gets to 5 stacks before dotting or re-dot after it gets 5 stacks.

Testing Miasma II for SS's effect. Stats:

1037 INT
481 DET
619 SS (which is not chump change, that's about 250 SS over base)

Damage range of the 20 potency initial hit: 152 - 168
Damage range of the 10 potency DoT tick: 76 - 84

In this case, SS has zero effect, which is surprising because even 30 points of DET will realistically alter your min/max. Unfortunately I don't have any sidegrade pieces I can test DET vs SS (all accessories, which would be easy to delete one in favor of a DET one or SS one, all of my SS ones have DET on them), so I can't really compare and contrast further I don't think.

Edit: just to make sure M2's initial damage wasn't counting as a DoT, I did some B2 testing.

Damage range of the 50 potency hit: 381 - 422, almost exactly 2.5X the initial hit of M2's hit (higher in fact by an extremely small amount, due to rounding no doubt)

A good way to just test the effect of spell speed on dots is to have your pet attack until you get the spell speed buff and then apply a dot. If you check your character page when you have that buff your spell speed does actually increase so you can isolate the effect of just spell speed very easily. Needless to say even after the 20% flat increase to spell speed the actual increase in dot damage is so small its less than the variation in the range of damage.

Here is some testing I did with SPD

Base Values - 416 DET and 470 SPD

Bio
219 - 242 - 470 SPD
223 - 246 - 561 SPD

Average 230 - 234 (1.74% increase)

@ +89 SPD

M2
52 - 57 - 470 SPD
53 - 58 - 561 SPD

------------------------------


Bio
224 - 248 - 546 DET

Average 230 - 234 = 1.8% (+130 DET)

M2
52-57 - 546 DET

No Increase for M2?!?!

Does SPD actually increase Dots more point for point? What's the deal with M2?

Been hovering over a dummy for the last 5 minutes, putting up M2 when I get the SS buff. Range is 76 - 85 so far as I've seen in the 10ish times I've gotten SS up. 742 SS, a gain of 123.

Interesting result, Judge Xero ... I'm not sure why mine are different other than my INT/WD are probably quite above your testing stats. You should cross-reference your M2's results against M2's initial damage, see what you come up with.
