You are trading a lot of speed for retrieval.

The current theory is that retrieval is really useful for getting the common stuff (crafting materials, lower lv. materia, Company Crafting unlock stuff) but it doesn't seem to affect the rare retrieval yields.

If you are mostly after the rare drops the preferred builds will get to make twice as many trips as yours and will probably find a lot more rares.

If you want to go slow, you need to increase the range so you can hit more zones in one trip. Ideally twice as many(or more) zones in twice the time (or less) as the faster ships.

I don't know if anyone else has done any research here on fast vs slow boats, but I think the most important factor would be how often you will check them. If you are only going to check them once a week or so go slow, if you are going to be playing a lot fast will probably net you slightly more loot.

Thank you for the reply, if retrieval doesn't really effect things like materia V-VI's and Kamacite then I'll probably stick to the CUSyC build.

It effect things by a liiittle bit. But i do agree that having a CUSyC build is overall much better.

Route 3: Sunken Vault (AD) > Stone Temple (AC) = 4 Days, 43 Minutes


Not a very appealing set of route times compared to the CUSyC. The 60 Retrieval loss is a bitter pill to swallow in difference, but slightly increased Kamacite gathering isn't worth the detriment in stats and convenience to make the CSySySy viable (which hopefully says a bit from me since I made a long post about the latter fit a while ago in favor of it). It's simply too slow and the range sits at an awkward spot.

Did anyone ever happen to figure out what the Ceruleum Tank consumption rate is? A quick search isn't getting me the answers that I'm looking for.

command VI, guerdon VI, are these the only two crafting and gathering materia you can get from all the sub locations, what about the other 4 types of them? Im looking at the infograph on the first page, just a little disappointed now that i have all my subs built :/

Usually the implication is that the rest of the crafter and gatherer materia drop there too. Those just happen to be the ones that the sector was confirmed with.

Edit: It looks like they will just give us bonus points to stats based on our subs ranks. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Has anyone had problems with finding the otter recently? I have a CUSyC build and it usually got an otter or two each week, but the last 6-8 weeks I haven't gotten anything but glass lenses and tempered glass. :|
