Sohr Khai, first run. Got a group of all 1st timers. BRD with lowest possible iLVL and no knowledge how to play his JOB and or how to do mechanics. Took us an hour to get past the horse because of low DPS and BRD not following advise. Ran out of time at the last boss.

Tried to votekick the BRD several times, noone followed through. Needless to say i was pissed. Requeued, finished the run in 25 mins.

First start in sohr Kai. Was really eager and happy to tank this. Got in with 2 frenchies...

They did nothing. They let me die, they did not interact in any way they just stood around doing NOTHING!

That was really frustrating. had to wait for 30 minutes to start again.

But then this was a beast. Really enjoyed my run then and we wiped only 1-2 times after we got all mechanics.

Sohr Khai run last night.

All of us were new.

Not one of us looked up a single thing.

Our levels of problem solving were high while we tried to come up with strategies for the mechanics on the fly.

It was so fun and relaxing.

Oh another one from last night, story roulette, got Praetorium. Was all ok, trying out healing on the story roulettes, still getting used to balancing with the other healer (so many overheals) but fun run. There's a new BRD so I tried to give some tips, asked them to play foes, they played mages ballad ^^; typed quickly, "no that's mages, don't worry about that unless me and the other healer are low on MP" so they stop playing anything. Asked for Foes again a little later, got mages again. I only recently started getting to grips with my songs myself so I don't expect other BRDs, especially sprouts, to know what they all mean (I know I know, don't hate me!) so I just said "oops no that's mages, Foes is the dark purple one". They finally sang foes but only once... saw their MP on full again with Omega at about 2/3 and no more singing... we had BLM and two DPSing healers since everyone's so overpowered we just chucked on medica 2 and went DPS mode... sigh :(

I'm girding my loins for my first tanking run of Sohr Kai which may happen tonight but more realistically tomorrow. Since in patch terms 2 days is an eternity I am looking forward to be screamed at in apoplectic rage by a party outraged by my temerity in being new to content.

This is what I love about new dungeons: Going in blind and having fun with everyone while figuring out the mechanics together :)

Too bad this line of thinking doesn't last very long, after a month you'll soon get the "veterans" wanting the run to be done in 20mins or less with no mistakes and if a new person is in the group the "veterans" will leave instantly because after a month even new people will be expected to have read up on everything because the "veterans" aren't here to teach people. ¬__¬

Agreed. Sadly it is one and done. Now don't get me wrong, after that month I'm ok with going through the dungeon as quickly as possible (so much rinse and repeat in this game the dungeons become tedious doing the same mechanics over and over again so the quicker through it the better imo...), but the 'veterans' who tend to leave because someone is new after so long is just down right wrong and very aggravating... We should all be helping each other out and not be dicks about it.

This is what amuses me (not haha amuse) but... people act this way and then later on complain that it is hard to build a static/find replacements if someone has to bow out. CAUSE AND EFFECT PEOPLE.

My first time in the Wiping City of Mhach, both a friend who joins me and myself are BLM. During trash, my friend explains the most important mechanics, the first boss is okay, the second one almost wipes us, but we make it. Then we reach Ozma, while my friend explains things, people in alliance chat discuss about how this fight works, everyone says something else, then someone pulls, leaving me utterly confused, whee. I screw up the different phases, but I get the thing after the second wipe. People start raging after the first one, saying how retarded we are for not doing the mechanics perfectly at day 2 of patch 3.3. Yeah. From the third wipe on, it's my BLM friend tanking parts of the fight although at least one tank is alive, the rages don't stop, then I screw up a certain mechanic, we wipe about two minutes after this (it's the 6th or 7th wipe, I didn't count) and the ninja starts a shitstorm against me in alliance chat. Fortunately the vote abandon goes through right after this, at this point we have less than half an hour left for the clear.

Later, I sign in alone. The first two bosses go down smoothly, when we reach Ozma, I'm able to explain the entire fight, lol. People screw things up and we wipe two more times, but nobody is raging, everyone is learning and explaining, then we make it at the third try. Only three people are alive at the time of Ozma's death, it's the tank of another party, a scholar of mine and myself - who was tanking the last three minutes of the fight xD - buuuuut it's a clear, right?

Just... show some patience for people who don't know every new duty and play the mechanics of every new fight perfectly few days after the patch ;_;

A month.. I give it till Friday when the pissy-weezies start to fill the duty finder..

So me and my friend went to Hullbreaker HM for the first time today. Load in, lesser geared DRG than I, DRK, friend on SCH. All four of us are newbies. Nice.

Other DRG is certainly pulling their weight, with forgetting to dodge aoes that well because of that. 's alright, friend's an awesome healer, he's mostly in cleric stance anyway.
I'm ripping aggro. Huh.
Everything goes pretty well, we don't wipe or anything. At some point I notice the DRK is... pretty bad at dodging. Tell friend in linkshell. Friend asks DRK if they're even trying.

Ah.

Last boss, everything goes fine, I figure it out as I go along. Waiting for lb2 to finish loading. Hit R1 to flip to the second hotbar with the lb, press the button. Right as I press it, the sound starts playing. Someone else is lbing. Oh bummer, guess the other DRG was faster than I! But, that should probably take out the last 18% or at least a good chunk of it anyway!

Tank's reaction? "OMG. REPORT. I MADE THE RUN LAST 30 SECONDS LONGER."

So I went to Mhach for the first time on release day. The number of ragequits was incredible. No one was willing to put up with people new to the dungeons. Very disheartening, esp when you see ppl bishing in the alliance chat about it.

Sohr Khai was another nightmare. Had a tank who would mob a huge amount of mobs, and even with all my CDs and shiz, I couldn't keep him alive. After about the 7th or 8th death, he quit, calling me a shit healer and I should learn how to heal properly. I don't think I'm THAT bad of a healer but holy crap, watching his HP drop to butt clenchingly low (1pixel sort of low) in 2 seconds is not doing my heart any favours. We got another tank who was more cautious, and passed it, but darn... that was a real dent on my healer pride. :/

Just remember we can't heal stupid. Not your fault that his health dropped like a rock from either lack of good gear or poor use (or none) in cooldowns or even just pulling way more than he can handle.

So yeah, got to Steps today and gave it a go. (As an AST) First group was doing fine and it only took two wipes to get the dodging down for the first phase. Sadly our damage was just not enough to push through the add phase as we downed the last one and it was too late by then as Nidhogg blasted us all. We gave it a couple more tries but no further. Vote abandon happens and we move on.

Now I want to get this done as I loved the cutscenes leading up to this battle and am still in the moment so I give it another go in DF. One tank pulls almost as soon as the barrier is down and we all scramble to get into position and get our cycles going. Insert wipe somewhere in here. The tank who pulled early rages at the other tank for not dodging and then goes AFK. We don't want to vote kick as that is what the childish one wants but after almost 10 minutes we give in and kick so we can get this done before maintenance. New tank comes in and we give it another go. But people keep dying to the black eyes or the fire. My co-healer decked out in i220 HQ gear drops 3 times our first retry and I am going OOM getting them back up and keeping the party up through the raid wide damage. I can barely do all that and keep the MT up and before long it is too much and we wipe. We talk a bit of strategy about working the black eyes on the floor like Titan EX... Only my co-healer and a few others still seem to not notice the eyes and go down repeatedly to the same bloody mechanic. At this point I asked politely if he could watch for the AOEs and move before they go off and he replies he didn't notice them. Ok, possible. One more try... Only to have the same thing happen yet again and again. We made it to the add phase but I could not keep both tanks up spread out and low on mana so we wipe.

Am a very sad healer right now. Will give it another try tomorrow and thank you to everyone who kept trying and made the adjustments and thank you to the replacement tank to MT'd very well for me at the end.

Me and a friend did mhach yesterday. Was really funny. We wiped a lot but in the end we did it - with 8 Minutes left. Pretty cool raid, i love it =)

Woo finally got my Mhach clear. Took my entire party but me and a blmleaving to finally down the third boss. (After at least 5 wipes and someone spamming vote abandon) We cleared the fourth in one shot with under 4 minutes to spare.

All I can say is I feel bad for the people who rage quit before hand. Sometimes persistence pays off!

Ran WCoM today with 5/8 being my FC. The 5 of us are all in voip together, joking around and stuff. My boyfriend was explaining the fights as we went along and it was all going pretty good and we got to... uh... Stoneface? Stonehead? Idk what he's called. For whatever I thought we were Alliance C and went on over and started casting Stoneskin II.

"SHE WANTS ME TO SOLO HEAL. D:"
"WE AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH."
"ELITIST."

So then I had to make the walk of shame back to Alliance A while telling the lot of them to stop twisting their panties 'cause the mini-boss hadn't even been pulled. SO DRAMATIC.

We only had one wipe and it was on Ozma (of course), but it we nailed it the second time so it was all good. The last boss almost got us, though. I was freaking out. XD I feel like everyone was running around a lot, the flowers that eat you got my co-healer a couple times and once got the both of us. The flowers with the AoEs were trucking everyone and I was scared we were gonna lose everyone and wipe.

And then we cleared and I even won one of the cards! ^.^

I also ran into someone on the forums who was very pleasant company, they were in a different alliance tho. Someone didn't roll on the minion so we got stuck at the end for 5 minutes and spent most of it /mdance-ing and chatting. Don't wanna call him out in case he doesn't want me to, but if you read this; /wave It was very lovely meeting you. ^.^

I had a GLD "tank" in Final Steps of the Faith today.

I believe I have now seen everything.

Did you attempt it? Did he force himself into MT role or was he certain gladiator was a DPS role?

We gave it a go anyways. But sheesh.... no tank stance and no DPS stance. The add phase was brutal.
Full 230 gear and a relic IIRC, so it's not like seeing a GLD tank in Castrum/Prae.

He did try and force himself into MT role, even after our WAR tank was tanking, the GLD randomly provoked off of him...then promptly died. That was our last straw.

Carrying my Mhach party several times [co-healer was undergeared bless her soul]
Surviving things that killed most others several times [instant N.AST barriers > stand and cast adlos, son]
Preventing my party dying when others did several times by double digit HP [B-but that extra 20% Helios shield buff wont make any difference, psh]
Being the last person standing in the entire alliance a handful of times
Got to see AST LB3 4 times, was pretty, shame it meant nothing because by that time my weakened party had an alliances worth of stuff on us so it was moot.

Shame our tank never learned, the other parties kept messing up, and i had to go to bed; was having fun ruling the place.

Maybe 2AM server time isn't the best time to find skilled folks to clear final steps of faith...

Had someone in Final Steps of Faith get the stack marker and then they ran away from the group with it instead of stacking.

Surprisingly, I find better players between 2am and 5am than I do during primetime and queues seem to be almost instant as dps.

Doing trial roulette as Bard only for win a little of Esoterics and... I enter in Final Steps of Faith. As I never concluded that, I thought not have risk for roulette give me that. I mistake.

Well, my Scholar is Ilvl229, but Bard only 212. I died several times and party wipe. I said sorry and leave. Better farm Esoterics only with dungeon o.o

Found out the hard way, you cannot cover and hallowed ground through the stacking mechanic in Final Steps...

As soon as you've unlocked a duty and it appears in your list you can do it as part of roulette except for mentor roulette. That requires you to complete all available duties before you can even queue for it again.

Some memorable recent mentor roulettes:

Joined as SCH on a rare healer in need mentor roulette and got Dzemael Darkhold. Had a DRK, a level fifty-something thaumaturge, and another dps. As I do with most low level duties, I protected and succored the party and switched to cleric stance. Things went pretty smoothly although the thaumaturge tried to sleep mobs during the big pull near the end of the floor. I asked him to use Fire 2 instead and advised I was putting dots on all the mobs.

On the froggy pull after the first boss, we had our first hiccup. First, the DRK fell off the ledge when one of the frogs knocked him back. I don't think he knew he could stun it. No big deal, I jumped down too, healed him up, prepared to dps again...but the whole rest of the floor aggro'd on me and I died before I could keep up.

I released instantly, ran back to the shortcut, rushed through the Telenor, Swiftcast summoning Eos along the way and nervously watching the DRK's health go down....down...down... Ran back to the group, jumped down to where they were at again, and healed him back to full, preventing a wipe.

The DRK was mortified, apologized, and I told him not to worry about it, everyone falls at least once when doing Dzemael. He agreed and we moved on to have a problem free run. Icing on the cake was the three comms they gave me. :cool:

This morning's mentor roulette was baffling. When I first saw it was an 8 man I was worried. Those end up being extremes more often than not, barring one easy WoD run a week or so ago.

It was Alexander, and I thought it was Midas until we got to the steam room. I saw my co tank was also warrior but with a 200 wep, so I turned on Defiance and let him know I'd tank Faust and adds. He said he'didn't already cleared A4S, wasn't new, so I shrugged, did a ready check, and there we went.

Faust took a suspiciously long time to die (there were about six adds? Maybe seven?) But we got through. I checked whether my co tank wanted .5 or original, we agreed who was tanking what where, I did another ready check, and mid pull I thought to myself huh. I should have told the party what to do with adds, just for review.

That thought was a premonition. When Oppressor .5 came out, I grabbed him and kept him north. I'd shifted to deliverance by the time we got adds and there was a laser right next to me so I figured I'd take it. My add died right away. The other three adds were a struggle. Two adds were still alive during the jump.

Rinse and repeat. I was taking and killing an add, but the next time three adds were still alive. I tell the group what to do during the jump, and explain what the laser is. "What's a laser?" was an actual question. Group still cannot execute. Half the group dies when the other laser isn't covered. (Again i took an add and a laser, again dps can't manage the other laser.) Healer uses healer lb3. Rinse and repeat, more death. By the point we were closing on enrage, it was me, the other warrior, and a healer left alive with oppressors down to 2%. We finished killing them before the jump and thankfully did not wipe.

I kind of wish I'd get Sephirot extreme instead... I'm actually curious about queuing for that in DF.

Got through Bismarck story mode recently. Party comp was 4 DRG (including myself), a WAR, a DRK, An AST, and a SCH. Well, we apparently messed up at the Sanuwa add phase (or something like that) because Breach Blast hit, and we all fell to the ground on the first try. So we get ready to try again, when the SCH's health suddenly drops to zero. We all jump off, figuring the SCH probably fell off by mistake. Second time, I watched the SCH jump off. Vote kick is activated, the SCH gets the boot, and 2 of the DRG drop as well. I put out a call to my FC for some aid, and one of my FC mates pops in as a DRG. Shortly thereafter, we get another healer (I think it was a WHM), a SMN drops in as the last DPS, and round two is on. This time, we burn down the carapace first try, burn down both Sanuwa adds, and destroy the Corona on the first shot.

I do believe dots won't wake mobs if they're applied before being slept.

Still, it's not that efficient.

I was in the middle of applying dots and then using Bane. He slept when I was in the middle of applying dots. I honestly can't remember if I had miasma 2 at that level but if so, that got thrown on after!

I was running Haukke HM on my WHM via 50 roulette, the bard was new, but the run was so smooth. Then we got to the last boss, I explained that adds have to die as fast as possible, and off we went. First two add phases weren't a problem, DPS was nice, then the third add phase started - and ended immediately. The boss devoured the add before we could even hit it, causing the aoe after that to wipe us. DPS was too nice.

I just... How on earth did we skip that last phase, I have never seen this happen in a sync party before. We made it in the second try when I stopped DPS after the second add phase, but... just... wtf.

Went to Hullbreaker Isle hard yesterday with me as drg and my bf as war. It was so super laggy yesterday that everyone either DCed or lagged. Quite a long run but adds are burning down fast and glad the other healer and dps was patient. Hope to see you guys again!! :D

I will not vent about FsoF, cose people know already - only thing i will repeat... I don't think people know that they have to avoid aoes and that it's a thing that would save them, cose mostly the KO them (and not just in FSOF in everything, PLEASE LEARN TO DODGE).

Ozma, when the other two groups knew a group I was in had 7 new people in it, the only one who wasnt was a dps DRG, there started a dance of disconnections at an incredibly high rate. Also, I would like for people to not rush in when someone is giving explanation of a fight and leave the time for people to actually read the instructions...what is silly about this ? people dont leave this time to others to read, rush in, die, and complain how bad the rest is...yep speak of silly
