But how can you design fights that can be planned before you do them without making them boring? Like I said I am not talking about overworld content (which is boring) but Dungeons/trials/Savage/PotD and more thus the main factors of this game. In a game where you will often find yourself in random parties with one-shot mechanics, having a death penalty would just be way too harsh. Not only that but it puts even more strain on the healer because if you are in a dungeon and the healer dies and nobody can rezz them, the group will probably wipe thus all lose exp or the healer will lose exp. Exp loss might work with overworld content where you can see the monster, where you can plan ahead (question is also if our battle system is even right for that). Yet even there you can still have griefers, DC, laggs and things like that.
If there was a system in place that locked the NM in a shield for a few minutes after it spawned than it would be fine to just do something else, but my experience was that they dont wait a bit. Its kinda worse than hunts since those often have at least some minutes of wait time till they pull it. Our fate train group split up (it was talked in shout chat so people should have known) to work on another NM spawn..we reached the place and maybe one minute later the other NM spawned..the other half of the fate train did not wait on us and we reached it when it was already 50%. So why should people take the risk and kill boring monsters somewhere else and thus might lose the NM that spawns. (Since you only can use the other teleporter at lvl9)
If they nerf the NM so that you even get 0 xp you will just punish the lower levels even more. If you are a high lvl you can do any NM you want, can teleport around the map and dont have to fear certain enemies anymore. At the fate they get the options to level down temporarily and thus will get full credit..while being low level is already dangerous and you get nothing but xp.
Tbh as I said in the BLM feedback thread current death penalties are ok, but the sheer amounts of raise options needs to be cut down imho
I wish the rewards = amount of grind. Dunno, maybe I'm playing it wrong.
