SUMMONER, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE OR ADD? (EVOLUTION & STAT ALLOCATION)

Perhaps have primal dropped gear that enhances that particular primal if equipped. Slight potency boosts for each piece. This would eliminate everyone always using garuda as they may not have gotten garuda gear and have a stronger ifrit due to drops. Allow wearing of the complete set for that primal to unlock a more "primal" looking version of your egi with higher potency, or new skills.

I don't think it is fine lore wise. It takes huge amounts of aether to summon them, let alone maintain them. Where will we get a steady supply of aether in such quantities for our primal attack rotation? I don't think the Scions or any city state leaders would allow someone to willfully summon a full blown primals 'just for one attack' either (unless I misunderstand you). Do you think the said Primal would allow itself to be dismissed so easily? Or for that matter, attack something at your behest? We do not hold contracts with them, they answer to no one. They are being of fury ready to destroy anyone or thing that interfers with their tempered tribe (Ramuh exception) while seeking to temper more. We belong to another (Hear, Feel, Think). Said primal isn't going to attack anyone at the behest of anothers minion. Also, any adventurers that came with us on a mission would have to be quarantined, and potentially put down out of fear of them being tempered by our summons.

I am not suggesting a full summon of the Primals but rather materializing a likeness of them to channel the energy into an attack. There is no direct control of a Primal. We can summon and control Egis by dipping into a small portion of power, is it so far-fetched to think that sliver of that power could instead be directed as a single magic attack rather than a sustained manifestation?

These are things we know about beast tribe summons. The way the story is starting to play out though it seems as though there are a lot of things about primals and their summonings no one knows about, like Shiva's unique circumstances, Ramuh not wanting to temper everyone and Moogle not even being a technical "primal" (from my understanding anyways).

It wouldn't be out of line to find out there is a way to summon them that doesn't come with all the craziness we seen beast tribes do like tempering and being uncontrollable.

I could easily see them finding a way to control them and using them as a weapon against the Garlean Empire, Ascians, ect.

I am all for an update to Egi graphics. I understand that with the lore the way it is that they shouldn't look like the full primals, but as it is now they feel more like ... You know those little plush animals and toys that Japanese middle-school girls hang from the zippers of their backpacks in Anime? Yeah. Egi's remind me of those. They feel like vanity pets that happen to add a little more DPS. Summons should at least FEEL like they're the whole reason the Summoner job exists in the first place, and right now they do not.

spirit convert- instead of controlling smn, you control the pet

• (+)300% pet attack power
• (+) additional pet skills
• (-) risk: smn goes to auto mode (smn die you die)

When I first came here from XI I was disappointed as hell that the summons for summoner look like they do. I mained summoner in XI but ended up going Thaumaturge in XIV because ugh.

More pet damage. Much more pet damage. Reduce spell damage greatly.

They shouldn't have their resources extended similar to BLMs nor have spells to match BLMs. They are summoners. Their SUMMONS should be the bulk of their concern and damage.

What i mean is i like that fact that there main source of dps is from dot type spells. There only spike damage come from one spell and it useless if you end up wasting it for bane or get mp. Which you end up doing a hell of a lot in turn 10 making your dps more DOT then spike.

I just like the fact that all there spells give a dot on the mob and it's not like BLM where you just do dps. Like the idea that i can bane over my dots only if bane did not use a stacks it would be even more awesome.

SE decided that the Summoner was going to summon Egis and wrote the lore afterwards to explain their design. If SE wanted Summoner's to summon Primals all they have to do is give them the ability to summon Primals and write the lore to explain why Summoners can now summon and control Primals. Lady Iceheart instead of using Shiva's Primal Essence to summon an Egi she let the Primal Essence use her body to summon Shiva.

My wishlist:

1. yes, enough with the glowing, one colored Egis. give them real skins please.

2. allow us to write AI for our Egis already (FFXII Gambit style). if they don't want it to be used for botting then make it available in instanced duties only (not available on the openworld fields). in most of the endgame battles we have NO TIME to order our Egis.

3. this is for the looks alone, let us use a staff instead of looking like a bookworm. move the grimoire to "off-hand" slot and use it for summoning only. when we get new glowing weapons, we want to show it off to everyone but the glowing books are not that great.

4. reduce the recast time of Aetherflow. it should be available as soon as we finished using Fester 3 times. as it is right now our dps is dropping big time when we can't use Fester because of Aetherflow is cooling down.

5. add something that can help with our MP issue.

6. a new skill that apply all 3 main dots at once, I don't care if it will have a little long recast time, we just need something like this.

7. separate our gear sets from BLMs'. make gears that fits our job.

8. reinstate the heavy effect to our Miasma and/or Miasma II (in PvP). as it is right now SMN is almost unable to defend themselves due to the lack of movement debuff ability (Bind from Tri-disaster isn't enough).

Part of the problem is when unlocking the Summoner Job it doesn't change the dynamic and mechanic of the class their essentially Arcanist with an Egi Pet instead of Carbuncle. I would have Summoner change the Arcanist into a Pet Class with it's own specialized talent tree.

Just let Spell Speed affect pet's attack speed, and add PIE on SMN gears.

Its probably too late now due to there being poetic gears, but perhaps in the expansion BLM and SMN will have separate gears. It's the easiest and fasted solution I think.

This is what they did for NIN instead of making it share BRD gear. Why cant SMN get Evoking sets, BLM keeps Casting

Wouldn't 4 being done affect 5 automatically? I'm no expert on SMN Aetherflow and MP issues (I main SCH), but I would think that getting it back up once Festers are all used (What, every 30 seconds or so?) would give you the same MP boost, but more often, once every half a minute against once every minute.

It'll probably never happen, but would it be interesting if summoning the egis also added a buff to the other spells while out? For example, Ifrit gives bonus damage to Ruin/Ruin2/Fester/Energy Drain (heh), Garuda improves DoT damage, Titan gives you both a mini-stoneskin per cast.

OK, so I've had some time to think about these things, mainly about new candidates that could be summoned in a more... realistic form. Instead of an egi form.

What primals, or dieties, would be willing to fight for the tribes that inhabit Eorzea (Hyur, Miqo'te, Eleven, Lalafell, Roegadyn) if Eorzea was in danger from an outside source? My first thought is The Twelve. Now, I have not played FFXIV before ARR beta, so forgive me if this is a no go as I know not their connection to Hydaelyn. What if members of The Twelve could be summoned individually? If they are related to, or even subservent to Hydaelyn, then could a few of them theoretically be coerced more easily or even willing to fight for us, and the citizens of Eorzea who worship them? Maybe somewhat similar to what Middy is doing atm. I dunno. Just throwing an idea out there. :)

Any word on sorting mana issues with Smn?

As of now, SMNs are nearly extincted.

I'm talking the last 3 Elemental Summons and maybe Pheonix, Alexander, or Odin. Or maybe take a new twist on the story and learn how to summon Voidsent gods like Diabolos, Cerberus, or even goddess of the Voidsent, Cloud of Darkness herself. There are so many good ideas still out there and new twists, FFXIV will only die once there are no more interesting twists and point of views to see.

Leviathan Egi - A globule ball of water Aether withe the famed serpent coiled around it. like a constrictor. Healing Pet.

Ramuh Egi - A billowing cloak of purple with a tree root styled beard, small wing like appendages on the back with bright lavender eyes and a lightning bolt at the end of the right sleeve. Attacking Pet.

Shiva Egi - A chibi sized feminine elven shaped crystal crowned with a tiara of icicles and with a large blue ribbon twirling around the body like a feathered boa. Tank Pet.

Pheonix Egi - Not so much a summon pet as a one time per battle skill that will resurrect you by dissipating your pet to bring your own consciousness to the land of the living once more in a blazing inferno of blue flame and feathers.

Odin Egi - Not sure how this would work but could be like Pheonix Egi, a skill that clads your body in Dark Aether like smoke giving you skills similar to the Dark Divinity.

Alexander Egi - Time and Light based angel castle mech. Enough said.

Quests to obtain a full rainbow of carbuncle colors, including Moonstone and Onyx. I want an Amethyst carbuncle so bad.

I'd like an option to have them at least no bigger than us. Ifrit egi the size of a wolf. Garuda egi slightly bigger than it is now, but more bird/hawk like. and Titan egi, similar in size to us and more tribal/golem-y. If they ever add an Ice one (shiva) then it should be no bigger than a human f and she just floats around with a Ramuh egi as a thunder horse or fae thing.

I’d love to have a bigass Titan.

This would probably be the best case scenario: SMN remaining a pet job while having that distinctive Summoner feel by the companions looking like actual summons.

Though, this would depend heavily on them somehow fixing the technical issues that prevent pet gameplay be smooth and bug-free, and I don't know if they can really do this without changing some big stuff behind the scenes.

That's why my prediction (looking how egis have been spiraling away from real pet mechanics) is that SMN will no longer have Egis and simply rotate between different Trance cycles, summoning its correspondent creature by the end to perform a big hit and leave. And the very same reason why I think Beastmaster will inevitably end as a Limited Job with a pokemon-esque type of pet battle system.

Can we have Summoner be changed to a limited job? I want more limited jobs.

But to add to the rest, I stopped playing summoner because of how lackluster & boring it feels due to the egi's being really boring & lackluster.
It certainly is a pet class but it doesn't feel like a summoner should imo- summoners should have summons, not geodes.
