Memories of Eorzea Contest (NA) - Entry Thread

I was saying my final farewells to a few of my favorite places just a mere 10~ hours before the world ends. While in Mun-Tuy Cellars I decided to pay a visit to a dear enemy, Prince of Pestilence. Much to my surprise he had found his long lost twin. I had planned on submitting a screenshot of my first months and fond memories in and around Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa but chose this one instead. What a better memory than not one but two Princes of Pestilences' finally reunited!

Wife and I have 2 separate accounts, but 1 security token, so we have to share a Square Enix account, so we both can only post under the same name in these forums, so we have no choice but to post 2 screenshots, but the one above is for Apie Aegis of Aegis server and the one below is Cegiana Aegis of Aegis server. So please don't disqualify the second picture, the rules say 1 entry per person, but this is for 2 separate people, so this double post should not count against the second picture because I am within the rules of the contest. (although I know you guys still won't accept the second picture) :(

We attempted to clear Operation: Crosseye for 7+ hours one day after 2 previous days of trying and failing over and over. During the 7 hours worth of attempts, we had lots of people ragequit, had to find replacements by shouting in UL forever, teaching the rules to those replacements, try the battle again, fail over and over, people ragequit, repeat... We all said forget this, we were gonna try 1 last time then probably just drop the quest from the Journal and never ever try it again. The fight went horrible, people were taking their time even though we had a ridiculous 10 minute limit on this leve. We barely killed the first one, with great difficulty, then onto the second Cyclopes. The fight wasn't going well, with no time left and only 3 people left alive, we managed to kill him with 1 second left on the clock. Was very memorable, but never again would I attempt that leve, was just not worth the trouble. :( Too bad I was left dead though...

After finally accepting Bard was what it was going to be, I had to find my favorite NPC bard and take a couple screenshots with her; she needed an accompaniment. BRD for life, with the good and the bad!

I'm not sure this is my favorite memory, because my linkshell mates are not included in this picture. Most of my favorite times were when we were so busy fighting that it never occurred to me to take a screenshot! So, this will have to do... But I have fond memories of crafting away while chatting in linkshell and I loved the way this screenshot turned out. So... this represents my apprenticeship in the Carpenter's Guild... my first craft to 50!

My friend and I ran all over Coerthas Western Highlands, and were waiting for the fog at the Sea of Clouds to lift... so we had a little fun, and tried many times to get the timing right for this shot!

Taken with several of my Linkshell mates during the final battle with Darnus. Finishing this fight, so close to the final save, was amazing. Doing it with my buddies only made it that much more memorable. That said, I took this shot out of the blue and it came out quite well. I wish I could have gotten everyone in this picture but we all had our duties to attend to. Now that XIV 1.0 is over and done with forever, these screenshots are all that I'll have as proof of the ordeals struggled through* and the bonds made while accomplishing them.

*Well, that and achievements.

That picture is amaaaaaaaaazing. And depressing. But amazing.

This image dates all the way back to the first day of open beta. The whole world had been finally opened up to us, and three of my linkshell mates and I were determined to see it. We set out on a path from Ul'dah with our newly created characters, traveling through the wasteland of Mor Dhona on our path to see the highlands of Coerthas. The road was long and difficult, but through shear determination, we eventually reached our goal. The fabled city of Ishgard. Alas, the gates were sealed, so we settled for gazing at it from afar.

As we sat on the cliff side, staring at an entire world of possibilities, I took this shot. It was our first adventure in Eorzea, and our first triumph. Thankfully, it was only the first of many.

I've been playing video games for a long time now.. I can honestly say, I've never had so much fun with a group of people in my life, then the fun I had with these fine people. So favorite place in Eorzea? It'd be wherever in Eorzea this fine group is.

I had to dig a screen shot up, didn't get a chance to gather everyone together, for one last screen shot before server shut down. Sadly not all my friends are in this shot, but they know they haven't been forgotten.

The story of this screen shot however, was after grinding 8 days on the infamous Raven Nevermore fight(Raven(Hard mode)). We finally took him down, it was one of my biggest achievements I've ever accomplished in a video game. It was an extremely good day for my friends, and myself.

Thank you guys! Can't wait to tackle whatever challenges A Realm Reborn throws at us.

When I first created my character I have chosen Thaliak as my guardian deity. Through pains and hardships I had finally arrived at the end of “living on a prayer.” I felt like fate had lead me here because the prayer stone reminded me of Vana'diel. It had brought back a untold number of memories for I have found a part of Vana'diel in Eorzea. I remembered all the frustration and hardships that I have shared with all my old friends and my new friends which I have meet in Eorzea which lead me up to this point. And, now with the end of the world at hand, I am looking forward to new memories that will unfold in the new era with Eorzea.

For over a year now, every night, I have logged into FFXIV. During that time I have learned so much about MMO's (This was my first one), pushed myself harder then I ever have before (32+ hours straight of Raven Nevermore until we came out standing with 6 minutes left before the FINAL save), and met a lot of amazing people who I now call my friends <3 Its hard to just pick one photo or one memory to talk about when i've taken and made so many! :) I'm sad to leave a piece of what I feel is me behind, but thankful for all the opportunities this game has given me. See you all in 2.0~

I could not begin to choose just one memorable moment, so I chose this screenshot to symbolize many moments. The biggest joy I have gotten from this game has been simply exploring the beautiful land of Eorzea. Quests, raids, and parties are great fun, but at the end of the day, my favourite part was always saddling up my trusty chocobo BelAir and going on an adventure. Just the two of us, following our hearts wherever they lead us, perhaps to an old favourite spot, or to find a new one. Many people find achievement in gear and levels; I found it in simply enjoying the scenery and music. Thank you, SE, for putting so much work into what made XIV magic to me. :)

My buddy, Tao Strife, leader of the Wu-Tang Clan on Sargatanas, Roslie Rubyxiii, a friend and faithful member of our LS, through all of it's reforms, and myself, Shmuel Watchman, the Wu-Tang Clan's 2nd-in-command, at our LS HQ in Uldah.
I chose this spot because it's away from the crowded Uldah markets and the fountain in the background is peaceful. Plus, the colored leaves are pretty cool.

This was by far the most memorable moment for me, back when I first started this game entering Ul'dah for the first time to witness this scene of the girls father sacrificing his life to save her from the rampaging Goobue actually made a chill run down my spine, the entire scene was very well put together and I'll never forget that man!

After witnessing the final end of an era event there's really no other choice for me but my pilgrimage around Eorzea to pray for the future.

No matter your level, class, or race. No matter what lies on your horizon, we only have so much time in this world. It is important to not get too caught up in the doom and gloom of a great omen nor even the minutia of the day-to-day. Take some time to tell those you care about you appreciate the time you DO have with them. Then, do all you can to ensure there will be plenty more to come...

I have made lots of enemies and have a bad rep for myself, but back in the day I had to be taught. I had to learn. I, made a friend.
I was going to post my first NM soloed as a 32 PUG with the OG battle mechanics, but then I stumbled upon this old photo in storage. I blew off the digital dust and it is like a foggy memory now. Wherever he is now Death Risen will always be a part of what made me, me. Thanks for the teachings, old buddy!

Ifrit was the first major fight I did in 14, and this was my first encounter. I kind of threw strategy to the side for the first 20s of the fight (Sorry guys! :P) because I just had to get a good close shot of the beast we all know and love (to hate lol). I didn't have an LS at the time, so it was a true adventuring experience, going with people I met for the first time in town, and not even really knowing where to go. So I was led to the entry point and we had a blast, even though my first couple of attempts didn't end up in victory. That's the real spirit of adventure, though. Trying again to vanquish a foe, who previously bested you in battle :D.

Not too long ago in a world called Eorzea, was a Miqo'te who urged to fight along her comrades, no matter what it took. Traveling to Locke's Lie to brawl against the HNMs with her team mates, she was thrilled to be there. Even if that meant going up against "that guy" again. T_T

At first it might seem conceded to post a screenshot of myself, but a LOT of blood, sweat, and tears went into earning this relic. Ryuko is clearly as happy as I was when I finally received it... I wish I had a screenshot of all of my linkshell members with relics, but we never did get a collective picture. I believe our final total ended up being 50 relics across 22 characters.
