My alt is on Halicarnassus!
The issue is it's dead now and no one wants to play on it. You can play the what if / waiting game but people are doing this:
And won't stay on their server for it to flourish. I see more Seraph and Manduin folks on Balmung than more own people.
So yeah, dead DC is dead because you're piggy back riding on us.
I love it when people speak for others when they're not even part of the group lol. I can get my weekly raid done and daily roulettes, don't need to DC hop.
Also it's literally Balmung, weird to be shocked about other servers visiting there considering its reputation. There are more visitors on Balmung than actual Balmung residents a good chunk of the time.
It's no secret that people moved to Dynamis for housing but at the same time you can still get stuff done if you let go of the need for two second queues in every piece of content you do. It's actually nice to queue for something and be able to work on other stuff in between. Even still, going as role in need gets me insta queues quite often.
They need to offer something like double exp or tomes for people who DC visit Dynamis and queue for things.
Only DC travel for savage, unreal reclears and new ex trial. PF is nonexistent on Dynamis.
I mean I ain't got this problem because I'm from Balmung. The issue is your folks are coming to everyone elses
server/center because it's low in pop. Why? Because:
1. They are coming over here acting like they live here and won't go back home. (The DC travel is annoying imho because it takes too long at times.)
2. They are coming over here because there isn't a population.
Which brings us back to 1. Tell your folks to stay or come back home sometimes mate.
DC hopping should not keep your 'Road to 80'. It's weird that they let you keep this so it does incentivize this behavior. It should only be available on the DC you moved to providing the bonus to help keep players there.
So I've actually been thinking about this.
Given that the new EU worlds, Materia and Dynamis DCs are extremely low pop and sparse, instead of adding new worlds and a new EU DC to make things worse, how about the below as an alternative?
For NA, select a high pop world from each of the existing DCs (eg. Aether - Gilgamesh, Primal - Leviathan, Crystal - Mateus) and regroup them together with Dynamis. That way, this would result in a 7/7/7/7 even split and help populate Dynamis, the existing DC will also be less stressed from a major event such as last year's Endwalker release that have massive queues.
For EU, scrap the new EU DC. There's seriously no need for one given how sparse the 4 new EU worlds are and adding one would just result in a DC deader than Materia even.
For Materia, add cross DC travel to either NA or EU. Preferably NA as the locations are nearer and the ping would be less severe.
Any thoughts?
They did this already and it was just a bandaid. Balmung and Mateus used to be on Aether and they moved them and several other servers to Crystal. And well, Crystal is completely locked to new characters now. Aether also dealt with being locked to character creation for months. Probably the easiest solution would be to just lock Aether/Primal/Crystal for a bit to funnel new players to Dynamis.
"Sell off the empty warehouses during recession, we will never need them ever again."
We're already planning to get 4 more servers in Dynamis so I doubt they'd strap other servers on and mess up their 8:8:8:8 plan.
Materia needs cross-DC but that's a whole other beast to deal with considering JP hates the idea of cross-DC and even cross-world while EU doesn't want cross-DC with NA. If they were ever going to put in cross-DC it would require every region being okay with it existing and open to everyone.
Seriously all we need is cross dc queuing. DC travel has already eroded server identity. It's why on Manduin I still can't hope to escape ads from someone from Crystal directing me to their ERP Cafe or whatever the hell they do. With cross dc queuing servers would dissappear and honestly thats clearly the direction the developer's want. You have your home server sure, but the whole region becomes your playerbase.
Now in saying this there is absolutely a down side and unfortunately I don't think not doing this is going to stop it from happening. That downside obviously is the complete loss of server identity.
Now I've played Wow on one of these "mega" servers and I can tell you they were terrible experiences, but here I don't see this straightening it self out unlss FFXIV has some resurgence of players again. It's not impossible, but unless when it happens SE shuts down the other 3 servers to new characters it will be a moot point.
I think Dynamis has a the Kmart problem and unless SE can right the ship it will go the way of Kmart.
Why would a new player stay on Dynamis when every other server is a better choice in every conceivable way except maybe houses?
The awnser is they won't. And come the 90 day locks coming off more will leave. That I can guarentee you.
I have said this since the beginning, the new EU DC is a massive mistake, sagittarius and raiden are both completely dead, only phantom and alpha are alive, there's not enough population for a new EU Datacenter, it will be a ghost town and on top of that spread the community even more, I sincerely hope that plan will be cancelled.
It's already past time for this thread to be closed.
Clowns who don't even play on Dynamis trying to dictate what we are supposed to do.
At this point it feels about the same as Crystal felt when I first started playing. There are some longer queue times, and you're not going to queue into pretty much anything during the night(assuming NA night time).
It's good enough and in a couple of years the servers will probably be congested too.
But it's taken almost 3 years to get to that point. for several months after the data center reorganization, Crystal was the low pop data center. It was only when Aether and part of Primal were marked congested for a few months after the WoW influx that the Crystal population started growing again.
I do expect SE to mark all of Aether and Primal as congested in addition to Crystal around patch 6.58 (if they follow their normal patch schedule going into 7.0). Right now, the congestion isn't a problem for log ins but it will be come the next expansion launch.
As many of us have said before, if JP is that bigoted then leave them out of it. The rest of us would be happy to play with OCE/SEA players.
So far it's only off for those who transferred the first 2 days Dynamis was open. Those who transferred later would need to continue to wait.
Those who came from Crystal or the congested Aether/Primal worlds... well, they're out of luck unless they plan to transfer to an entirely different world.
I still don't understand why so many people transferred to Dynamis just to start complaining about the low population. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand that it takes time for new worlds to grow into active communities.
I never said I was(well I did, but that was when I first moved and Limsa had half a dozen people in it. I have since changed my mind). I'm willing to wait. I have no home to go back to. And I honestly don't care about the queue times, but I know how childish and selfish the playerbase is. Hell, half of them were already jumping to Aether to queue. Every FC I've been in a good chunk of them are online on a different datacenter queuing. It's frustrating that they can not see how unhelpful that is to helping the datacenter actually thrive. And I feel like it is. Every city is full of players and items sell, and I make money off the MB. There's FC's to join. I don't see why people came here just to leave 90 days later, but being a realist, I know they will. I hope they don't mind you, but I know they will.
Personally, I am going to stay and wait it out. Most of what I like to do is solo anyway. I hope I don't lose too many people in my FC though.
I truly don't care if people leave.
I transferred to Dynamis for housing and I got the two best plots in the entire game.
I couldn't be happier.
To be fair it doesn't feel dead to me, but I also started playing in November with my girlfriend who's playing summoner and my best friend who's playing sage and right now I'm enjoying gum breaker. So we already have three out of a party of four so filling empty is kind of hard so we're kind of exempt from the problems of other people. I do hope once we finish the post end walker msq we can start looking to form a static on dynamis of newer casual / mid-core people. I mean we'll be fresh having to start off with extremes and work our way up but I think it'll be a fun experience and can't wait to try it
new player here (been on the free trial since mid january, just upgraded), i went right to dynamis for the bonuses and i've been having a really good time on marilith. i've had friends come visit from crystal, so wanting for party members isn't really an issue for me. i've noticed the server filling up more over the past week or so, idk if it's from the recent patch or what, but i honestly like that the world's a little less busy (and it does wonders for my frames). with seraph being locked due to congestion, it really seems like dynamis is doing just fine - it's just newer than the others. we'll get there.
i don't really have a lot to compare to, but i definitely don't think dynamis is dead or beyond saving or anything like that.
I've had more social interactions on Dynamis (Marilith) than I can even really remember in all my years on Excalibur, and it's not like I didn't afk in town from time to time. The most social I got through Primal was like, Eureka and Bozja when they were relevant.
I really don't see Dynamis getting any meaningful growth until 7.0, and thats perfectly fine really.
I want to get off this DC and transfer to Primal, it's open. I have a small house I need to get rid of first. How does one do that?
Cross DC queues is a most needed feature. Once this happens, no more issues.
I would move, but can I bring over everything to this new server? FC, items, Gil, Housing, etc…
Is this server on east or west coast.
IMO, you're better off staying. Once 7.0 hits, you'll wish you had stayed and not given up housing
Y'all transfer if you want, but just remember 7.0 is coming.
