That sounds pretty damn golden to me. I'd support this thread with that. I want to be able to see someones strengths by what they have on - and while I know a lot of people would be using vanity slots to look cool quite a few would still be doing it to look retarded.
Being able to turn it off, boom issue solved for me.
We know how much you guys want vanity slots in A Realm Reborn and so does Yoshida! He let us know that while it won't be available at the start of ARR, they are planning on implementing it!
Hmm... now what to wear?
Subligar all the way!!! Yeah Baby, Yeah!!

but in reality... if I did this... wife would never party with me ever again... in-game and in-real... /sigh

Thank you Rukkirii and please thank Yoshida for me. It just comes to show, if the community pushes enough, the developers will listen. I look forward to this feature sometime in the future.
will it be bound to what the player can wear at it's level and class?
full time subligar oh yeah.
Best news I've heard in awhile.
Yes, this is a much needed feature and I would look forward to having this almost more than anything else. Especially considering the fact that more than half of the gear in FF doesn't match anything else to begin with (mainly leather gear... seems like even pieces from the same "set" of leather doesn't match - i.e., raptorskin harness & subligar (black) look awesome together but then we're stuck with WHITE raptorskin caligae and WHITE fingerless raptorskin gloves???? Also always wondered why cobalt belts could never be dyed :P)
I got quite excited when I saw this idea, and reading through I see it's going to be implemented - yay! I love the look of the AF armour, but it's just not appropriate for getting the best out of your char.
Kinda failing to see why anyone wouldn't want this implemented... I can understand people perhaps not wanting to utilise it, but why stop other people enjoying capping stats but still looking cool in the process?
My level 20 gear looks far more realistic and well-matched than my level 50 gear...
My level 50 gear is so patchwork that no one would ever dress that way...
And lo, on that day, everyone wearing Heavy Darklight Armor let out a joyous cheer.
Someone didn't get the memo that those games are 10+ years old.
I don't like this vanity slot idea because what you wear should be what's shown.
I can see a bunch of subligars going around if this is implemented.
However, this is just my opinion. Since a rep brought this up, I would like to express my thought and my vote that I personally hope this will not be implemented.
Keep it for your job restricted gear and I'm ok with this. But Blackmages running around in plate....
<<<<<no these are the kind of people lol. I'm urked by mismatched gear and its way more immersion breaking than anything to me. You would never go in to battle with plate and felt armor. Armor tends to be made as a set and it looks better as a set. Not to mention you run the risk of not being able to move properly in mismatched gear. I'm glad Yoshi saw the benefits of this too. I still have yet to see any good arguments against vanity slots, besides the people who dont want to see yukatas tanking, though it has been asked that vanity slots be job restricted/ and hopefully some other restrictions just to keep things realistic. I dont understand why people seem to be so opposed to this...
A great victory was had today.
Still people ignore the possibility and likelyness of vanity gear slots following class/job requirements. In ARR, Recomended class will change to required class. Tho it was said that it is mainly effect dated gear, that is only because there is way more dated gear with recommended than required. There is still a few new gear that will change to required too. Stop trippin so much over this.
and really..... who really gives a damn if someone wants to run a dungeon with reigndeer costume, Yukata, or Dream gear on vanity. I dont really care if they do, in fact - more power to them. If vanity slots are avaliable before those next holidays, you better believe I'll be running dungeons in them too!
Find yourselves a bunch of like-minded people who dont like vanity slots and make a damn static, then you'll be all good lol.
Can I have squall or cloud cloth set? just for nostalgia :p
Funny for 10 minutes - obnoxious afterwards. And you wouldnt be the only person. If it happened frequently enough to fill the streets with capable fighters in stupid outfits like WoW has filled the ground and sky with silly looking rainbow mounts (literally and figuratively) then I'd have to go back to single player games.
Either let me turn it off on my side (doesnt effect you at all), or put some restrictions to what can be vanity slotted (more then just "requires job") - I think doing both would be best...
It will be disappointing if SE officially turns its game into a clown fest. (while some people may look a little silly, vanity unrestricted will go beyond what we -already- have)
I still think it's a fine idea. Or maybe a way to bind the stats of one piece of equipment to another piece of equipment via synthesis, fee, or quest.
And if it could be added, I don't see why the option to /display fashion off would be a problem to add either. That makes everyone happy, doesn't it?
I'm ok with this as long as it has job/level limitations.
As has been said, If it's done within a reasonable measure then I don't mind; However the Swimwear tanking glads in Aion was disgustingly stupid.
Hello Friends,
You may notice that some of the replies to this thread have been removed.
We ask that your remain civil when discussing changes in our game; the rules still apply whether or not you agree with the idea or not.
Thank you for your understanding.

May I ask exactly how this was not civil?
What in here personally offended someone? Please explain this to me. The only person with middle ground here. It "voice of reason" not civil?Quote:
Its not one-sided, you are just not presenting your argument well at all. As a fantasy set game, your immersion will always be altered slightly to not make sense with reality. It is a good thing however that I don't depend on the immersion of reality to satisfy my needs for it. I play a fantasy based game, which means I want items, situations, and worlds that are far out of reality from my own.
The argument of vanity slots comes down to a technical scale if anything. Some believe in making a unique looking character to help them immerse themselves into the world. Others like to wear the latest gear to display what they have achieved to everyone. There really isn't a right or wrong if vanity slots are good or not, because both sides can make a valid argument.
However, what I do believe is that we should be given a choice to use this standard feature. Of course you have to make restrictions such as you can only wear what your job can, no event items, and so on.
There is no victor in this argument because no one is wrong, it is an opinion based matter. In short, use it if you like it, or not, up to you, and it shouldn't affect your experience with the game.
EDIT: Also like to point out that seasonal items like bathing suits and reindeer suit won't work with vanity well even if you could put them in there. Bathing suits are underwear and whatever you are wearing over it would cover it, vanity or not. Reindeer suit also conflicts with a few pieces unless you are wearing gear with no feet.
