That's true, but it doesn't mean it's not a great sandbox for ideas that can later be scrapped w/o being missed.

SE should just pull the plug on FFXI, most of thoseidiotscustomers would just start playing FFXIV automatically, people really are that stupid. Sadly SE are people too.
Boy, this is a good post. Lets disect.
You call FFXI players idiots. All 150,000 of them. (There are rougly still 200,000 active subcribing accounts, so lets just say 150,000 players). Thats very mature of you.
Also, why on earth would Square-Enix pull the plug on their only successful MMORPG? Right now it literally has 10x the playerbase that Final Fantasy XIV has. I really enjoy your logic, please post again.
They're just one of those jokers who waltzes in and drops a big stinking turd to see what stink they can conjure up. Called a troll. Appreciate them for thread bumps, if anything.
Eyeballed. I'm usually on between 01:00 to 05:00 GMT.
If you had a random party of all Whitemage- You couldn't kill a monster- Because all you could really do is banish dia and heal... and gimp attack-
I call that difficult- WHILE IN OTHER EASY mode MMO- every a full party of whitemage can pulverize any monster ASAP- You could suck ball but as long as you could cast a nuke on other mmo it doesn't even mater how difficult a monster was. ON XI if you only casted banish only shiet... you'd get pulverized...
I don't see why you think XI is easy...
Party system was hard-
Traveling system was hard- agro chase you till you die... tiger's would be quicker then you- and you had no choice to fight it and have a chance of death or being a great player solo it ;P---
ANY EXP MONSTER---
ON XI: Auto Attack party FOR EXP = Death
If everyone in the party was spaming tp moves including the mage spaming random spells without thinking??? your party would be dead. Of course you could spam stuff but it needed to be special set up party and organized. Such as mana burn parties. True It did take a while to fight but it was a fight you actually had to stay focus. (a party with half the member's AFK = death) on FFXI
IN COMPARISON to the following:
ON Other MMO that are currently running INCLUDING XIV: Auto Attack party = 10-15 second kill--- mage's DPS every job can spam what ever they want without thinking as long as there's a random Curaga or cure - Technically anyone can DPS and TANK in most- You can have a party of random Brainless players and yourself as long as everyone is auto attacking 1 single target the monster dies.. I don't see the difficulty in that- You don't even have to have a set up: you could invite 7 random job/class and get a party going with exp...
(A PARTY with 2 MEMBERS NOT AFK is still able to fight while other's are afk without a fight...) I don't see the difficulty in this?? do you??----
XIV is SO HARD a person without gear could Tank Ifrit.
Gukswar, while I agree with pretty much everything you said, there are those here who believe anything that happens before endgame doesn't make two shits and it's all just a *cough*timesink*cough* holding them back from these glorious and epic NM/instance battles they have to look forward to.
Are you bored?
Anyway, Gukswar, yes right on and thankyou. What you just said should be what everyone thinks. It won't happen but I'll join in your line of thinking.
Xoo, also too right, too many people want the "end" before they experience the journey, but you left out the whining about it all being over when they get there.
Okay, so, I've been back ingame about 3 weeks now. I've got my Bounding Boots and a level 27 RDM that's been all solo due to the fact that traditional grinding is all but gone. I don't mean people opt for something different/faster. I mean mobs in the old camps have been reduced to a fraction in number of what they were, making it impossible. SE has pigeon-holed players into doing it the easy way, and only that way - or else go it alone. As I go it alone, I'm noting all the off-beat zones that still have a decent mob count so I can possibly make a group and take them there later on down the road.
This. And he put it in a much nicer way than I would have.
OP is wearing pink nostalgia goggles. "Struggle" is something I see enough of in real life that I don't need more of it in a game I'm paying to play. I just want to work towards something and get it within a reasonable amount of time. FFXI was the antithesis of that way of thinking pre-Abyssea.
This was not really needed. If it hadn't been WoW, it would have been another MMO, but someone was bound to change the standard by which MMORPGs were designed. That and WoW has more challenging fights than FFXI ever did. So no, U.Quote:
World of Warcraft, may you rot and burn in Hell.
