Go to NPC which sell things for crafters scripts - then lvl 50 (in menu) and there you should see scrolls - They are useable for Specialists - it's like "wait" in crafting process, in which you can get Good or Excellent proc

So I just got back from a business trip the other day and logged into the new patch and was immediately overwhelmed.
"Just read the tooltips" does not work with this new crafting system. I feel like I used a jump potion to level a job to 60 and have literally NO idea what I'm doing anymore.
This is coming from someone who leveled ALL jobs to 80 before 5.1
SE completely changed the system to fight ability bloat and macros but both still exist.
There are abilities that will get zero use but still there, people figured out macros on day 1 of the patch.
Lily is gone too.
Thanks for those pics tho.
I'm really not enjoying this. As someone using wacky rotations with specialist skills that could get a lot out of the system with little gear I'm now stuck in a worse spot than where I was. I seem to be able to HQ roughly where I was at but I use so much more CP doing it that I can't afford skills like reuse anymore. sadface.
If anything it's the opposite for me. It become so simple that I now have ton of CP left after HQing. The system becomes so simple that there is no need for "whacky" rotation, it just straight up synth with very few steps.
I hope the promise of the high tier recipes will be a challenge is true in the future, because crafting just got hit by the neft with the force of a freight train going down hill.
Then I must be missing something. I could HQ grade 2 tinctures with reuse, Stats were 2167 craftmanship, 2052 control and 510 CP. Without consumables. If someone can help me get back to where I was it would be highly appreciated. Like I said I can manage HQ but seem to be lacking the CP for reuse.
ingenuity is op now, it gives a massive boost to you, the element combo skill is a better version of the original piece by piece.
I feel like crafting is mildly more challenging now before 78...And then you get Delicate Synthesis...and then it becomes easy, easier than ever.
SE wanted to make it more approachable for new players, right?
...lol
Everybody complains of how easier it has become to HQ (and maybe at endgame it's true), but as someone who only recently returned to the game and has to finish levelling crafts I'm pissed at how they removed all the cross-class skills, now making them high-ish level skills. It makes it so much harder and frustrating, since I can't even imagine trying to HQ on levels where you now have 0 of those skills.
I guess nobody cares because now levelling is so fast that people level without even actually crafting, but for me it's a very negative change.
I'm surprised at all the negativity. Crafting is not like raiding. It shouldn't be considered raiding. It's a profession, not combat. Crafting in this game has never required skill and we didn't need all those buttons. People are mad that "just anyone can do it". Well yeah. It's an MMO. It's multi-player. Want to make it super complex? Make each craft a complex algebraic algorithm that changes with every craft. THEN we'll cut out most crafters (including many of the people that are complaining that it's too easy now).
Crafting was never difficult. For me, it's just as easy as it has always been.
My only real concern with crafting at the moment is the lack of armoury space. :p
To me, Crafting still is like a book written in Hieroglyphics. Especially HQ Crafting. SE couldn't change my mind with this Patch. I don't like Crafting at all. And I guess I'm not alone.
So, don't worry, there are still a lot of Buyers out there.
As someone who has only been crafting for a couple of months, the streamlining is welcome. Crafting shouldn't be some complex activity. I don't understand why people want to make it so hard? You afraid other crafters will now come in and threatened your stockpiles of gil. Some of you have so much gil you'd never use it all but can't stand the thought of more crafters moving up through the ranks and taking a piece of the pie.
Because when it's easy enough that everybody is just casually doing it, there is no point to doing it anymore. When everybody is a crafter, nobody is a crafter. While we're at it, let's nerf all combat content that is somehow perceived as hard! Even when it isn't actually hard.
No thanks. Square Enix made it overtly clear that they're trying to kill crafting in this game, so I'll just find something else to do in the game. Something other than crafting.
I actually like the new crafting system was able to easily HQ the 460 gathering body for myself and the 460 crafting body for a friend, 10/10 would craft again
Gil is easy enough to come by even without leveling crafters. I think it's less about gil and more about what sets this game apart.
Most other MMOs have a very simple crafting system: you get the materials, push a button, wait for a few seconds and done. Professions are usually limited to 2-3 per character and easy to boost from 1 to max in very little time.
In FFXIV each crafting class is a class of its own with a basic skill set aswell as some unique skills, they have special gear and you can even level all of them on one character, you have difficult recipes you need to craft in HQ to buy books for special recipes and overall, crafting is useful. Even the older recipes are.
I think many people are simply afraid of losing this unique system to oversimplification for the sake of accessibility.
While it might pull in some people who have been averse to crafting because they prefer a simplified system like most other MMOs have it will also push away those who enjoyed crafting exactly for NOT being such system. And the crafting enthusiasts are not just some 1% or less of the playerbase, it's actually a rather large crowd. Most people I see via DF have their crafters leveled to various degrees and I know of many people who play FFXIV solely for it's crafting system.
It's the fear of this just being the first step.
Simplification for the sake of accessibility isn't always a good choice.
Just take a look at the healer forum, we lost many healers to such simplification.
You may reel in one group but lose another in the process.
in this game, DoH/DoL are full professions, not just some button pressing like in other games. It's supposed to be challenging and fun to do. Same as with DoM/DoW, if classes become too streamlined and boring people complain, or if dungeons suddenly become a two buttons pressing thing with no mechanics. Why should it be different for crafting?
As someone who's trying to get into crafting but all the Macro's and cross-classing stuff
detered me, I have a question.
Do I still need to level every craft to efficiently make good items?
Like is there still cross-class skills I need to get now?
i wasnt play for now so dont know how much it was nerfed , but if its so simple now o/ well you know , crafting is something youre coming to play this game again and imagine that feeling when you will make some item from latest master book in hq ! i think it can be called as a echo for crafting , but this echo will be from the start so its boring :/
- trade in clusters for material and sell it
- trade GC seals for stuff like Cordial, crafting mats and housing items and sell it
- watch the market and buy materials when they're cheap, sell them when the prices rise
- watch other server's markets, buy items cheap, sell them with profit
- buy NPC items (materials from ARR beast tribes are good choices, but lots of stuff works) and sell them with profit.
Yes, people buy lots of stuff you can easily get through NPCs because they don't want to port all over Eorzea and look for the right merchants
- send retainers on missions and sell what they bring. They can bring some really neat stuff through Quick Exploration. Store housing items for the next ward release if possible because prices usually multiply
- buy tomestone mats and sell them
- treasure maps, even old ones work quite well
- unspoiled nodes are worth a look, even old ones. With a decent "schedule" you can get a lot out of one hour of touring
- and if it's the first class, you can even sell MSQ gear rewards. Best to check beforehand which sets are generally worth most
You can easily make several million gil per week (sometimes even per day) without crafting a single item or spending excessive amounts of time on the market board.
I'm surprised this mindset is still a thing.
High end crafters don't care because, as you said, we have more gil than we'd ever use. Even if you nerf crafting to the ground, we'll make far more gil because we have patience and can learn the markets. We don't need gil, it's a side-distraction, we just want something at the high end to keep us occupied.
The thing casual crafters don't realize is there is only one pie. By that I mean there are a limited number of buyers in any market. What do you think happens when a single pie is offered to everyone? It has to be divided among 10000 and all you get is a crumb. You'll never get that slice you grudged us for, because the slice took a lot of work and patience and it's impossible to divide among an entire player-base. Now you've destroyed that pie in your greed to have it (Facet gear is completely worthless and sells for peanuts) and will never make the sort of gil we have because nothing you make is worth anything. Enjoy.
Yet it's not enough for me to get back what I had. I'm just saying, like everything else they've done recently. They've lowered the skill cap overall but also the ability to push some rotations pretty far. Now I'll have to spend more time gearing up instead of trying to be smart about my rotation, that's all.
Currently tomestone mats are about 500k for 2000 goetia. That's pretty much passive income since you earn that from doing pretty much anything.
Did some treasure maps just for fun the other day. In 4-5 maps, the three of us doing them collectively earned about 10 million gil.
Earning gil is a joke on this game.

But cul is super easy to level because it has easily spammable stuff every step of the way.
If you were melded to even the comfy melding recommendations, rotations now can do everything the old rotations can do.Quote:

If you were melded perfectly, your results now are a step above where they were before the patch.
Basically, if you could craft 5.05 items before, you can craft 5.1 items now, likely with fewer hq mats.
Oh you must've missed my original post. I basically had crap gear but could still hq stuff (tinctures 2) with the old system (-with- reuse). Now I can't get a rotation as good as that. I get HQ no problem but not enough CP left for reuse. I posted my stats on the offchance I was missing something so people could try their hands on the simulators but alas that has been a dead end so far.
TLDR; I made heavy use of a lot of specialist skills in my previous rotation, new system can't seem to make up for it.
well your cp seems low, just remove all your craftmanship and control materia from the 100% slots and put CP there if you are not going to overmeld at all and try to use other quality skills if you are just spamming the same one over and over again.
It was absolute carnage when I logged in and saw more than half of my abilities were removed. Crazy stuff.
I never even used macros either, my crafting was done strictly free form as I enjoyed the decision making process and prioritizing that went through it. I'll especially miss steady hand 2 and gambling on RNG.
Soooooo... has this thread realised that crafting is still around, totally fine, and in fact better than ever, yet?
I love the new macros, they're slightly shorter than my old ones n_n
Not having to deal with hasty touch failing 10 times in a row has done wonders for my blood pressure.
