Might i ask how so is a male only and a female only race unique

Please don let us be stuck with gender locked races. I support this post for both male Viera and female Hrothgar! :)
Stopping in to voice my support.
Half of a race makes the game feel incomplete. Making the large, muscular body type male-exclusive while the thin, lithe body type is female-exclusive feels regressive.
I recently started playing FFXIV after dropping it for a long time because ARR was rough to get through.
I picked it back up and started playing it with my group of friends. We made it to Heavensward and we were all having a blast! The game is really really fantastic and the story was just starting to pick up when I caught the livestream.
Genderlocking race's is just such an incredible disappointment. Especially with this game's track record of making these mistakes only to fix them later.
I understand (or at the very least hope) that this decision was most likely not made out of malice. That this is a lot more complicated and messy than it is at first glance. But it's still a bad look and leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I was angry at first and now I'm just extremely disappointed and disheartened. FFXIV is the best MMO out there currently in a time where MMOs are a dying race. I don't want to stop supporting the game but I also cannot support a game that thinks genderlocking races is okay. It breaks my heart because I was deeply enjoying the game and enjoying playing it with my friends.
I hope that this is just a misstep and I can return to the game that I was enjoying.
Please make Female Hrothgar playable! We were promised no more gender-locking. We know that this can't be fixed immediately but please try for 6.0!
Here to support Hrothgar gals and Viera boys!
Please add female Hrothgar to the game. I have four friends who are canceling their subs and/or their Shadowbringers preorders because of the gender locks and as a long-time player who has worked hard to get their friends into this game, that's a huge bummer! Let players be any kind of Warrior of Light they want.
genderlocked classes simply do not make sense, why deny some of the playerbase choice?
i support male viera and I 100% support female Hrothgar
The way it makes it more unique is because with them be only Male or only female there will be less of said race. Especially with all the people on these forums wanting the opposite gender then the ones they are releasing. Just think about how many people want to be a bunny boy. If they keep no bunny boy in ffxiv the people wanting the bunny boy won't be a bunny because they can't be a Male one. Hence less of bunnies equals bunnies be unique.
I heavily support and wish for female Hrothgar. I love playing a female Roegadyn but only because they are the closest thing we have to a beast race. I'm not interested in playing a Male character and I'm sad that Hrothgar are Male only. However, I'll respect whatever the end result may be.
I made a similar post in a thread regarding the Viera race, but I would very much support female Hrothgar being added to the game. I know it might mean extra work for the development team, but I can guarantee you that there are many players out there who will appreciate it if you allow them to play as female Hrotgar or male Viera. In general I'd like to see the game move away from gender-locked content. An alternative to consider in the future might be not to introduce a race as male or female, but rather a race that is sexless/genderless. I think that could potentially be much more interesting and far less restrictive than giving us a new race but saying "you can only play as the guys" or "males of this species exist but we'll only actually let you play as the females."
I highly support the aspects of Female Hrothgar to be added to the game. I have family and friends that would adore swapping to a more rounder and buff female beastlike race. The choice to remove genderlock in 2.o was the right choice then. It is the right choice now. Even if it means we might need to wait for it, just acknowledging the request and work being done to bring it to life would make so many in the community happy.
Thank you for listening to our requests.
Tossing my vote for female Hroth's.
Excluding player choice is bad. Add the missing gender variants even if it comes at a later date.
Do the thing, fellas. You have no reason not to do the thing except ... eh ... creative reasons, maybe?
If so, then you can create fierce powerful cat women, too. Super easy. :3
After seeing the art for some concepts I am in support of this addition, but truly just want to be a bunny man!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ronso women were literally the one thing I wanted from this expansion. We're halfway there, SE. Let's go all the way.
I'm very confused as to why bestial females are somehow never considered. I'm a very straight girl who likes cute things but, I'd try out anything; however there are other people who have different likes and interests, and I'm very sure that these people would have greatly appreciated beast-looking female characters. As a girl we're not just "cute/sexy" we should definitely consider different options as well and I thought that was great how they did Au Ras smaller (my only complaint with that is the horns/faces aren't separate). I really wish devs of any game stop to consider that races shouldn't always be humanoid just because it's aesthetically pleasing.
boys and girls make sure you are not just commenting on this, hitting like in the OP is important! Yoshi-P and crew are watching this thread!
I would definitely support this like I would male Viera. More options are always better, imo.
I support this, we need female Hroth's. :D
I simply wanted to expression my opinion that gender-locked races are not very inclusive. Even if the female Hrothgar are implemented to be very minimally different from male with a minimum of custom work, that would be preferable to gender locking.
As someone who desperately wants to become a rabbit man, as well as someone who very much would like to see more muscly women options, I wholeheartedly support having female Hrothgar as a playable race.
Don't really have anything to say that hasn't been said already, but still wanted to voice my support.
While I really frown on any kind of gender locking, this case is a bit special to me - a Ronso-esque playable race is something I've been wanting for years! But being stuck with just the males is an enormous disappointment.
I also agree. It's 2019. Genderlocks should be a thing of the past.
I could see how the development team might have considered this worth their time if femroe weren't a unicorn.
I am for female Hrothgar (-:
I vote for female hrothgar and male viera too!
Add another vote for female hrothgar and male viera!
We have Female Ronso of FF12, Female Khajiit of Skyrim, Female Cathar of Star Wars, Female Charr of GW2, and Females in Thunder Cats...PLEASE SE
I don't particulars enjoy beast races as something to play myself I support this endeavor to have female hrothgar/ronso implemented.
I agree! I would really love to see the female hrothgar and male viera. I think it would be really cool if they added to the lore for the viera to have the male be available. I also really want to have the hrothar females added bc they are similar to ronsos! The dev team works really hard and i appreciate them take the time to read feedback!
I'm always in favor of more options for all players, and I would hope that there is that same option for something more beastial for female toons as male ones. It's unfortunate that everything that has a more animal appearance has been ramped up to 11 cuteness for female toons. Au Ra are the worst for this given that they were up to now, the most beast like for males, but for females, they look like porcelain dolls.
It sounds very nice and welcoming to say options are nice, and they absolutely are-- in a vacuum. The issue is the team needs to avoid a femroe situation due to the resources required to implement a new race, and I can't blame yoship for avoiding "less pretty" female characters when the community is half catgrill.
Frankly, the resources expended for a 2% cut of the community are better spent on a new dungeon, raid, or Eureka-like side content. Heck, a limited job is more valuable to the game as a whole than a race option few take.
Female hrothgar should be a thing so people can get their Cheetara cosplay on.
Thundercats, hoooooooooooo!
This gets my support. Doesn't make sense to have gender-lock this day and age. Yoshi-P did say they would consider feedback on this issue, so this makes me hopeful that they'll do a 180 on this decision. Obviously it's too late now, since we're so close, but hopefully sooner rather than later.
Adding my support for female Hrothgar, I would very much like to see them as playable.
I would love to be able to experience Shadowbringers as a female Hrothgar or male Viera character. I understand the cost and the time involved in making this a possibility (the dev team looked very exhausted at Fan Fast the other day), but I think it would be a real cherry on top of what looks to be an amazing expansion. Just as creating female Roegadyn and male Miqo'te was worth it, I think this effort will be worth the time and money as well.
Thank you, Yoshida!
At a certain point, you could say that about most if not all of the fluff content. Why add multiple housing items every patch when most players will probably never use them? Why add so many camera and posing options when the amount of people making use of said features are a minority? Hell, if we're really gonna do this, you could say this exact same thing about Ultimate content. Why even add it to the game if the vast majority of players aren't ever expected to clear it, let alone even try to attempt it?
Who cares if female Hrothgar only appeal to a small minority? You add them for literally the same reason you add any of that other stuff: to make that minority happy.
The irony here though is they may only appeal to a small number of players, the playerbase as a whole is going to spend more time with this "content" than any of that other stuff. Most people are never gonna own or even see half the housing fluff added to the game. Most people are never gonna mess around with every camera option and take a million different screenshots. Most people aren't gonna step into Savage or Ultimate. Literally everyone is going to run across a Hrothgar female, just as they would a femroe, at some point whether it be through the duty finder, going into town, or even just out and about in the world. We're rare, but you're definitely going to see one. So teeeechnically, if more people on average "experience" femroes than something like Savage, wouldn't it make them more important?

(okay...like...just so we're clear, I'm joking when I say femroes/female Hrothgar are more important than Savage content lol. Point is that, in my opinion, the argument for actively excluding them feels flimsy at best. Just sayin.)
I never expected Hrothgar to show up and while it's an interesting race please don't gender lock them! It's really unfair to those who would love a strong female race to play that isn't roegadyn. Please put some consideration into making the female Hrothgar with the male Viera, there's no real reason not to other than avoiding the work!
