Here's a sortable list of every possible sub build
I'm gonna send a pair out with -20 surveillance and 160 retreival. Should be interesting...
Yes, I had looked into it. But that number was for the end-game airships sectors, which were 5 stars each. So far, the highest level sector we can unlock for submarines is 3 stars, so I am assuming that we don't need 90 surveillance just yet. I could be wrong, though.
Edit: I too wish there was a message hinting at what stat/s we might need more of... *sigh*
Updated the items I have seen mentioned in this thread so far.
I see sub 3 but not sub 2, where does that unlock from?
The first page on here is really disorganized. Is there perhaps a better chart out there, like the airship one we have here where the info is categorized well and the layout isn't as haphazard? I really don't want to have to sift through 30 pages to find info that should be on the first page if this wants to be a true guide.
No offence to op, the layout is just super confusing and there seems to be a lot of basic info missing.

For those who got the marine wax from Wreckage, what parts were you running on your sub?
Here's what -20 Surveillance looks like. Large quantities of junk.

Hi just wanted to point out that your ship pieces are miss-labeled. I checked the stat values and they are incorrect for the listed parts. If you want to make it correct, switch the place of stern and bridge.
It was confusing for me, but your numbers are correct, only the label is wrong. So I hope you don't remake your whole spreadsheet. :P
Anyway, just wanted to help in case someone else got confused. Have a nice day. :)
Ah, you're right. I do seem to have swapped the two part's stats. Thanks for the catch! An easy fix on the spreadsheet, though a more tedious fix when it comes to my calculations. XP
Edit: Turns out it was an easy fix. Also fixed the images for the builds on the original posts in case anyone is using them or uses them in the future.

Okay. Legend-of-Mitsuki, you can use those tables.
They look like tables from Airship Guide theme and they are really conveniently.
Those tables will be updated as your addition information pool grows.
Also you can add me in Discord (Quadol#7383) for fast cooperation and editing those tables.
I added last info from your additions too.

Thank you Quadoline for providing those up-to-date tables. They have now been added to the first post.

@Deepthunder -Wow! What set-up are you using to obtain so much variety and quantity?
Also, here's the materials for the Whale-class submersible...

Im using full whale. that trip was Offender's Rot (lightning and ice crystals)-> Mystic Basin (ferberite and savage aim3) -> Neolith Island (bamboo and fire crystal) -> Central Rimilala (deep-red clusters and raw celestines) -> Deep-sea 2 (competence 3). Whale keeps bringing in big hauls but there is always rng in it.

Im fairly new to the whole airship/submarine system. I have heard of mixing of airship components, but i have little knowledge on the value of stats. So at least until now i have been satisfied with unlocking the new zones and listening for new info on what is from which zone. Im running a full shark and a full whale. Looking at stats in hindsight the shark seems like a good scout with its high surveillance and whale should be able to bring back big quantities with its high range and retrieval. Until we figure out the range requirements we have, it might be good to spam the new areas with shark and hope for huge hauls of choice loot with whale.
Both all shark (30) and all whale (25) have horrible surveillance. The now middle tier parts (Unkiu) really seem to have the best stats for snagging the rarer items and you can swap out a part with a shark/whale part to get the good stuff. Just be aware that airship parts are a direct upgrade each tier (but the part limit will require you to mix tiers), whereas with submersibles they seem to throw each tier's stats in a blender so you have to actually go through and calculate which parts to use. We don't have exact numbers on the surveillance needed for the rarer drops, but for subs I go for a high surveillance build. The bulk items all seem to be stuff the airships have been able to bring in so I don't see a point in designating subs to bring any of that back personally.
Sorry, i think i mixed up the names. I did mean the second submarine version as the "scout". Ill do some part mixing when both subs are back home in couple days.
Someone made a nice builder website and posted it on Reddit.

Tested it out with the faster sub. That tool is going to make life a lot easier, thanks.

Using an 85S/80R/85F setup, guess 80 isn't enough retrieval to give a positive-sounding results but survey/favor seems ok
I'm still new to airship/submarine management as well. What stats should I be going for in terms of maximizing profits? Buying a large house and building an airship and submarine really took a good chunk of money from my bankroll ^^
If it follows the same formula as airships you'll need at least 90 surveillance to reach the further sectors. Beyond that:
Surveillance increases your odds of finding something
Retrieval increases how much of it you get.
Favor may or may not have something to do with getting rarer mats or HQ vs NQ; I've seen people talk about it but haven't seen anything confirmed about it.
Range increases how far you go, IE more sectors per trip.
Speeds is simply how fast you make the trip.
Most profitable builds seem to focus on maximizing Surveillance and Retrieval with a Range good enough to hit multiple sectors in a trip. Speed is more of a luxury, nice but not worth sacrificing the main stats for.
Yeah the all shark build is fine for discovering sectors, you will need higher end surveillance to snag the rarer goods though from mostly Unkiu parts.
It feels kind of like Retrieval is the G3 shroud soil. It works to get more out of some of the basic plants, but the rare plants (items/materials) will only give 1 regardless. Surveillance or Favor seems to have a chance to tack additional chances on, but I don't think we know which because we're stuck with no stat info and the rng/time per trip would require years to decode it. Maybe something to ask in a live letter? Would be nice if someone from the community team could just get us that info without all the hoop jumping though.
