Excalibur goes from a 7 person queue to a 295 person queue. so much for reducing the queue.
And now for Famfrit. Who usually never has a queue and when it does it is like less then 10, has a queue for 67. This isn't fair to us. And like I said earlier. I was in a middle of a longer then I expected MSQ cutscene. Oh they are lucky. It restarted the CS from the beginning.
i logged on gilgamesh 10min before the reset, no queue... guess what now !... pathetic..it's balmong only, gilgamesh was fine yesterday in peak hours.
Hyperion queue 349.
Well I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. But I was online and playing. Then after the purge I have to log back in and I'm 841 in queue and the world is already currently full ;_; I guess it does seem like the numbers are going down quicker than normal, though?
Wow this works so well for those queues.... Usually get a prime time queue of maybe 15, now after the logout it's almost 200. Not to mention the penalty I get since I was in a dungeon trying to work on the MSQ. FML
Three digit queue on Excalibur

OK, so on Cactuar, i've had a max login queue of around~50 at any time over the last week, and usually only 5-10.
Just now, i got a Queue of 450 when logging back in after the rest.
(Slow clap)
Balmung queue 1 hour ago: 26. Balmung queue 2 minutes after servers came back up: 2000.
At least it's moving unusually fast. Down 400 spots in 5 mins. Whatever works?
Logged in fine on Lamia :D
Here's an intellectual challenge.
The purge takes place. Everyone is logged off. Ten minutes pass and the servers go back up.
Congratulations! You're in queue because the world is full!
It's full of people who literally just logged in. They're not going anywhere any time soon.
How is this supposed to improve queue times?
Either that or the World limit isn't dependent on how many people are actually logged in because queue # keeps dropping in which case I'm confused ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For those posting queue numbers, it doesn't mean much of anything. Before I left Balmung I logged on straight away from over 4k in queue due to a large amount of 90ks happening. The real question is how long did a 67 or 450 or 300ish queue take on your server? If it's a few minutes then this is hardly an issue. If it's 10 mins+ then it is definitely an issue.
Twenty minutes delay wasn't terrible, but I also had to stop doing what I was doing before I got to the Fringe quest and cutscene that takes some 10 minutes or so.
I still think they just need to update their auto logout more than anything. It's not Balmung's fault. It's not people who go afk to avoid a two hour queue's fault. It's SE ignoring a problem with the auto logout feature and punishing everyone else for it. When other MMOs want you to be kicked for being away from the keyboard, they actually make the system do that.
I am hoping after today or within a few days they only do this to servers that need this. Behemoth is a coin toss as to if it needs it or not. I have characters on other servers that will never see a log in queue and certainly don't need it. As for the df going down also. It seems like some on the FC list show as in an instance and they have shown that for weeks some times. I don't know how it works but maybe they feel clearing everything once a day and seeing if it helps make everything better and more stable.
Here's the premise.
The server is full of non-AFK people (we'll call them 'A'), and AFK people abusing some mechanic to stay logged in (we'll call them 'B').
Forcefully logging everyone off will only have group 'A' return, leaving group 'B' off.
Unfortunately, this still places a lot of stress on the login-service servers (which is likely why we still have a queue), but I assume that they're more worried about the servers handling the in-game load. The queue I was in was around 400 and it went about as fast as when it was 100.
I wonder how many AFKers logged back in and AFKed again.
I'm at work, but can anyone tell me me how Balmung is now?
Granted the queue of 349h took 3 minutes to get through .... but i do not think it is US prime time yet.
I wonder what will happen if they pull this stunt then?
just had a 90002 in the middle of the city and back into a 100 person queue. They need to fix their shit!
It would be ridiculous if they tried it during prime time, since that's when the most people are playing. This time in particular gets rid of most people who are afk, at the price of having to wait in a queue as people are funneled back in. 1600 queue took 20 minutes instead of two hours. So yes, it did 'fix' something, even if this is a temporary measure.
Got put into a 2.5k queue when literally minutes before the force log off it was a 20 person, 2 minute queue. Been waiting 20 minutes now (to drop 200) only for the lobby server to crash and put me at the end of the queue.
Need I mention again that I had a 2 minute queue before this?
Well here is a good question. Did this "maintenance" reset hunts?
IF the hunts did reset, how will you ever get the hunts that spawn past 24 hours to come up if they reset the servers every day?
After the servers came back online, it took me 20 mins to move through a 2400 queue on Balmung. That's a vast improvement over the 4+ hours that size of a queue normally takes to move through.
Edit: Now that the initial login rush is gone the queue is down to 15 people. Usually at this time of the day it is well over a thousand on Balmung. I also don't have to make 50+ attempts to enter a housing instance either, which is nice. It definitely seems to have helped for now. That won't last if people start loitering online while AFK again, though (which some are already doing).
Yea, that's pretty much the short of it. Or you can have healer or tank friends. As to time lost, those on Balmung in particular lose a lot more time if they get hit with a 90k. I can't say the same for other servers, and that yes, it should be Balmung only. But if things are not coded properly, there's little choice in the matter until they do a week long maintenence (most likely). Better to lose 2 hours and 15 minutes than 3-4 hours
On Adamantoise queue was 11. 5 seconds later back in game. So not sure if it was a big effect to my server here, didn't have issues before and queues were usually tiny even at peak hours.
My queue to enter was 1,082 it took under five minutes to get back into Balmung. Whereas if this didn't happen that 1,802 would of took close to an hour or two hours. I really don't understand how people complain about everything. Complained to do something about the afkers they did this to try to boot off any and all afkers and now even more complaints about this.
Don't some of you comprehend that if no afkers are in the game that we get in faster ? Besides..think of this as practice. See how fast you can spam the login button so when the new housing area opens up you'll be a expert in getting in fast to buy a plot. Think something positive about all of this.
The real question is did it help more people than it annoyed. Was there a reason to do the whole datacenter? Hopefully SE chimes in about this mess of a solution, maybe they were trying it to see how it goes. Who knows.
What they need to do is after the afk timer of 30 minutes comes up, just 90002 the client. They are so good at doing this to non-afk people already...
Speaking as someone from a lower pop server (Famfrit), this was much more of a headache than has ever been caused by a server queue since Stormblood launched. As a dps I had to drop out of queue for extreme dungeons because I had been in it for 50 minutes without a pop and it got to the point where we had less than 20 minutes remaining till the server went down. Queue was small to get back in (well larger than normal but took the same amount of time), however it prevented me from being able to complete my Ex roulette before work, which is fairly annoying considering our server hasn't had the same problems. The whole point of playing on a low pop server was to avoid the issues caused by the high pop servers so the blanket treatment is kinda frustrating. Mainly because it conflicts with a time that I normally try to get in some runs.
Speaking for my experience on Cactuar, I waited until 12:15pm PST to relaunch the client and attempt to log back in, got tossed into a queue, and made it back in game 10 minutes later. Any queue for my server is an issue though, because Cactuar rarely has queues, and when we do, it's the 20 people queues that you can just hit cancel and retry to immediately bypass. The only time I've ever seen a queue was for Early Access; not even for big patches have I been tossed in a large queue before (mine was 500 when I tried to log back in).
Speaking from a DPS perspective, I immediately tried queuing into a duty (Sohm Al HM) on my RDM (since she's not quite 61 yet, and can't do Sirensong). Average wait time started as 16 minutes, but increased to 19. At 13, I got an in-progress queue pop (5 mins elapsed), zone in, and I'm in the only one in the duty. So I left, requeued, and I've been sitting here for 10 minutes now with DF only showing me in the queue. :/
It's 15 minutes people. 15 minutes. You will live.
Force logoff of ACTIVE players to curb "AFK-queue exploiting" is singlehandedly the most stupid thing I have read in 20 years of internet use.
Do NOT do this SE. Your login servers will prevent everyone with hour long queues, the AFKers log in and AFK again and this whole thing accomplishes nothing, except pissing off your PAYING customers who have a real life and limited time to play.
FIX your system (players can afk during crafting/retainer/cutscenes) and upgrade your server hardware.
THAT is the solution.
