Huh.

First Zodiac: Started with 2k Soldiery, ended up needing 1k Soldiery to finish my quests after getting all the dungeon items.

Second Zodiac: Started with 1600 Soldiery, have bought my 4th spring water and still have 7 dungeons to go.

These without overtly farming new people for soldiery bonus either time... Go figure.

Had a friend recently quit due to his bad luck on sastasha HM I couldn't believe it he went 0/74 that's really fucked up on se end with rng . Poor guy ...lol

Nah, don't. Actually, after you finish the first one it's easier to do the second. Activate the quests again (including the bombard cores, etc) and farm Zodiac drops while you farm Nexus light. It's working out pretty well so far for me.

worse than some / better than others
BUT, i can't be arsed with this quest anymore, if I get them I get them, if anything in this game is going to give me burn out it's RNG tied to progression.

25% drop....if it were not for hullbreaker

Hard to get good stats from a thread like this where people will tend to post if they have really bad RNG experiences. From my own experience, I think the drop rate is about 20% or thereabouts.

Frankly, I feel this is one of the best designed of the relic quests (the best was the first one - prove your mettle in difficult dungeons). The dungeon spamming provided the soldiery needed and gear drops for GC turn-in to get the bombard cores. Likely most people that play this game enough to even be on the zodiac quest will not have trouble getting the gil for the other items and it provided some much needed business for high level crafters.

Atma weapons were a nightmare of very low drop rates, Animus was a long grind and the FATE component was very painful (who wants to sit and do nothing for hours waiting for a FATE to pop), Novus was a ridiculous grind and extremely expensive for the materia, Nexus was the most frustrating grind fest with very little feedback on progress.

I have had some extremely good luck so far. I know I'm going to run into a dungeon that I will have to run 50+ to make up for it.

My second time thru this quest the drop rates have been Really Bad!! After 15-20 differant runs of stuff, I've gotten 2 drops. I hope this picks up ,I still got 1 more weapon to upgrade.

I Just got my 7th ATMA!

Just got my last one! Wohooooooo!

Manor took me the longest at 16 runs. About 5 of them I got first try. Most within 3 runs.

Just started the quest. Took 3 stabs at Amdapor Keep to get mine.

Some of the drop rates people are reporting here give me hope. Seems like many are getting drops with just a few runs (or less!) with only a couple outlying nightmares like 14x Aurum Vale or 22x Pharos Sirius.

Oh my god 63 runs o.o the most it taken me to get a item is like 8-10ish runs :( I only need pharos sirius and stone vigil hard. I hoping it wont take me long to get pharos sirius so far it been 5 or 8 try not sure :(

i'm flagging up for both WP and Haukke HM with join in progress just in case. this is rather draining.

I didn't keep tally, but both times I did this quest, the worst offenders were Haukke HM and Hullbreaker. I had to run them roughly 15-17 times each. Dzemael wasn't so bad the first time around, but this last time was about enough to make me want to shoot myself. I did it for 9 hours yesterday, and got horrible groups most of the time.

The shining jewel was actually Aurum Vale. Both times, I got my drop on the first win.

WP oddly was my worst one so far at 7 runs. Since then 6 or 7 have been first try and the rest were within 2-4 runs. Down to my last 3 now and it's about time this game stopped screwing me on RNG. . .

I finally finished my zodiak last week however some of the runs I was very lucky. I was 1/1 on Aurum Vale, but was well over 30 runs on Pharos before that drop. The average per dungeon for myself seemed to be about 12 runs per. Some were less, a few were more.

My boyfriend's bane was Haukke HM. He was about to hit 41 runs before finally getting his voidweave drop. Glad he got it. We were both getting sick of that darn place :P
