Let Us Change Skin-Color at Aesthetician

With the blue, green, pink, brown, white, grey, and so on and so forth shades... Yeah, good luck getting that variety from a "tanning bed." My view is: if IRL hair dresser can't do it, then it's best for Fantasia.

It kinda makes sense for the aesthetician to transform people with color. Fantasia could have been for everything else.

How exactly does it make sense for a hair stylist to change your skin colour...? Pray tell. XD
P.S. I doubt SE would do anything that would make them lose profit.

This thread has been going since 2014. I think if it was going to happen it would have happened by now. Plus, those sweet sweet Fantasia dollars are telling them to not do this. I've seen people buy Fantasia just to do this. Heck, i'm considering it myself cause I made my Roe's skin a shade too light by accident during character creation. I'd love for this to happen, I just don't think they will because they want people to spend money in the Mog Station.

If the Aesthetician can add or remove the horns that comes with some Au Ra hairstyles (esp. some of the male hairstyles have horns coming out from all over their heads) and add or remove the scales of my face and also remove or change the color of the limbal rings (or scars for some other races), he could possibly learn how to change my eye and skin color as well.

So, lore-wise it actually makes no sense that he can't. xD

If the aesthetician could change skin colour I'd never buy a fantasia again. Which is probably why it'll never happen :(

Those are race-specific styles you're talking about, so aesthetically they likely should have the extra horns but they don't translate to neutral styles for whatever reason.

So lets go with this Logic:

Be able to change Skin color.

Next people will request "Let us Change Eye Color. Havent you heard of contacts!", "Let us change eye shape and facial features! Plastic Surgery, duh!", "Let us change height, Magic can solve that problem. Geez!"

Youre going to have character design traits that have to stay on the cash shop for Fantasia to be a sellable item. The more you take from that, the less value Fantasia has. This will impact sales ultimately. Btw, Just because we have subs doesnt mean that cash shop stuff is inherently evil. Changing name and character design has almost always been a feature that people paid for, whether you had a sub or not. Just the way things are.

And if you want FFXIV to stick around, you better not be so harsh on teh cash shop. SE is a business ultimately, and if they think its not profitable to run FFXIV, they will bring it to an end. More profit usually is better for us players as a whole. Does it mean that theyre gonna nickle and dime? To an extent sure, but theyre making money vaults scrooge mcduck style and saying screw you to the player base. Theyre using some of that money on FFXIV stuff as well as other SE properties. Meaning, theyre probably taking that money and reinvesting quite a bit of it in making more money. Something smart businesses do.

you don't know how each race tans. Who is to say the different races don't tan blue or green?

Well, about the only reasonable addition really would be eye color because as you mention, contacts are a thing (contacts the size of a dinner plate, but still...) and don't require trying to handwave a hairdresser doing more involved physical body modifications. "Complex" changes like skin color or anything else you couldn't imagine happening without cosmetic surgery is best left to Fantasias.

I would like to see Fantasias changed or have new "premium" versions added that let you tweak your character freely over the course of several hours or days. Sometimes the lighting options in the creator just aren't enough to help you lock down the perfect appearance and multiple attempts to get it just right without having to pay for each one would be amazing.

How about instead they let us change to lighter or darker shades of our set skin color? It would be like tanning or getting pale.

please let us change skin/eye color without a new fantasia...

I'd love to be able to tweak skin colour in-game. The preview screens really don't give you a good idea how your character will look in the open-world.
If they threw in eye-colour I'd be very happy too, but skin colour is the thing that has caused me most issues, even to the point of deleting (newish) characters and starting them again. Fantasia isn't cheap, it feels like a waste needing one for what is basically a minor tweak.

Maybe there should be different tiers of what you can do in the aesthetician, like costs more etc. without having to resort to a fantasia. I can see changing tanned to lighter tones along the same line of tones.

They really just need a better viewer when you're making a character, but yes being able to do more with the Aesthetician would be nice. I mean Au Ra can change limbral ring colors which is part of their eye but not the rest of it.

I believe skin color should be added since Fantasia can always serve for more radical changes.

ive never needed to change my character because i spend way too much time making sure my character is perfect before i hit yes (viera is the one time i will absolutely need to use a fantasia because theres 7 months of events between now and shb and id rather fantasia an alt into viera than potentially have to buy way more in emotes or event gear)

but i do agree changing the rgb values of eyes and skin (lets be honest it is magic instadye game mechanic, you can come up with some lore of repurposing a compound that would allow spies to change their skin color when needed but has since fallen out of military use due to countermeasures rendering it obsolete and now its fallen into favor with vain uldahn high society) would be a good thing to add in to the aesthetician for those instances where you have an rp reason to change your look or your current shade just looks horrible against your glam and hair combo

It's been four years and not a word on this from the community team. I truly believe there is no chance for such a thing to happen. It's a bit absurd you have to pay real money to change something as simple as an eye color, or to change your skin color. Something like this should only be for drastic changes like changing your race/gender. Maybe put colored contacts in the game or something.

Given how the netcode and instancing of Elite Dangerous is set up (I play it!) I would be a bit hesitant to call it an MMO. Multiplayer for sure, but it doesn't have that massive multiplayer feel to it, due to how their netcode is set up.

Since squadrons have been added the mmo feeling definetly increased :D

Remember kids SE is a indie base dev and need your money to produce its dlc for FFXV oh wait . . . . But seriously tho SE won't change while whales continue to fill in that big debt hole left by that cancelled dlc tho I on the hand agree yes eye colour and skin should be an option, I seen cosplayers change their skin colour with body paint for those talking about realism - yes realism in a game where a motorcycle can fly . . . . .

hope the development team looks into this, it's been years with no reply... can we get more support?

I just wanna know why au ra can can change their limbal.. lumbal… whatever ring color at the aesthetician but all the other races have to use fantasia to change their eye color.

Personally I'd love it if they let us change everything except race and gender at the Aestician, similar to what WoW barbor shops can do now.
