Having reached the stage in this game where I need Titan HM, I am inches away from not subbing any more and finding another game. I know the fight, am a seasoned MMO player and have had no issues regarding reaction time ever before. Getting hit with Weight of the Land when I'm clear of it is making me look like a nub and I'd rather simply not play than face this frustration night after night.
So who else canceled their sub renewal? ^^
Yeah, I'm in the same position. Anytime someone cries lag to me in this game my response is usually "Yeah, it does that.." I think one of the more frustrating things for me is knowing that it's a problem, but seeing players absolutely rip apart fellow players for getting hit. A majority of the time I'd be willing to bet that player that died to landslide was out of the effect.. especially when I see them go flying in a direction other than where they were standing (doesn't have to be across the room, just moving to the side of where the AOE hit should have been enough). Or players that die behind the stone pillars after Garuda does her AOE attack and so on.
I've even seen players die to the last boss in AK's catastrophe attack, and when their body falls it's behind one of the pots with everyone else (usually the healers, presumably because they can't see the cast bar even with a focus target on the boss, and sometimes don't immediately notice the animation). Yet the people in the group will almost always tell them they suck, or they need to dodge better, or call them a noob. The issue is not only frustrating in the sense that you know you get hit when you were clearly out on your screen, but then that's followed up with people berating you constantly.
I paid for three months, if it's not fixed.. or at least addressed in that time frame, I won't be continuing my subscription until I see it has been fixed (I really do love the game otherwise).
I love my White Mage.....but this issue is brutal on healers. I can also run in a straight line and cast Esuna without interruption. Lame.
I'd like to see a video of someone watching a person running in a small circle - Can't even do that due to the slow positional updates. So sad :(
Bumping this till we get a response from SE.
Bumpity bump.
I didn't cancel my sub, but i think i'm paid up till January 6th. I'm pretty sure i'll be moving on to something else after that. But i might come back when this is released on ps4. Right now i can't do much on the ps3 with all the issues this game has on the console. Fates are so crowded during prime time that enemies don't even spawn in for me, only other random players and their chocobos. Big issues like this should have been addressed already. SE is just way too slow to fix anything on the game that matters. The same reason DCUO failed, too many problems and too slow on fixes. And i won't even start with this lag/delay they have. Also, why do i need to wait like 2-3 seconds after doing an action to hit an instant ability? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of it being instant?
I know as far as that is concerned, SE has come out and said it was intentional and working as intended. I believe it had to do with the skill animation. I am with you though. If they're gonna make the animation go off prior to the effect of the ability applying, then they need to adjust the cast time to reflect that. I have had times where my Rage of Halone ability will actually interupt after starting with two slashes because I was running between targets to rotate combos on when things wouldn't group nice.
The delay is just such a pain on BLM. Trying to change between astral fire and astral ice with that ability(forgot the name) during fates can be a real pain. Especially when you add the lag in there with that delay. Which means i'm spamming that ability for like 5+ seconds to get it off lol.
Yeah, I had to majorly adjust when I decided to use my no damage ability (Hallowed Ground) because it takes almost full second for the effect to actually apply. So it's gone from a "emergency" skill to, "well it looks like I might be in an emergency soon" skill.
I don't mean to light a fire but I have an average connection and I've never once had an issue with getting hit by things. Back in 1.0 I remember getting hit by eruption all the time across the arena so I know it WAS a problem but I haven't seen a single instance of this happen in 2.0. I've even had multiple occasions of reacting late to Titan plumes and barely getting out as it popped and not taking damage.
Also, skill activation is more based on animation than global cooldown. Some skills won't go off if you started a longer animation skill prior. Hallowed Ground however is a pain in the arse.
There are plenty of videos showing people getting hit by AOEs when they are out (even a few in the original post of this thread) and lots of threads, both here and in other forums discussing the issue. I am glad you are not getting the issue, but please don't pretend it doesn't exist. People should not be getting hit by AOEs they are out of, even if it's related to their latency. That issue cannot be found in any other MMO, or at least I searched and couldn't find it, nor has anyone provided a video of it happening. It should not be happening here.
Tera is an action MMO and doesn't have these issues...
By the looks of things I'll be the last one bumping this after my... 180 days.... are up.
JUSTICE BUMP
"Justice Bump", how cute.
No MMOs period have. They doesn't have to be AAA. I tried searching for the issue just to see, because I couldn't recall it happening ever. No search results using Rift, Tera, Vindictus, Aion, Eden Eternal, and so on. I've even offered to change my wording in the OP and stop touting that as fact if someone can provide me with evidence otherwise (a video or something), because if it was anywhere near a problem then it would be like it is for this game, and videos would be everywhere, as well as multiple threads.
FF11 was along the lines of EQ1 where the game is more about resource management as opposed to move around really fast or you die, so while lag is always the same, it's not as crippling. It probably doesn't help that FF14 strived to be the MMORPG that puts the most weight on dodging an AE in a split second compared to any other MMORPG out there.
Can we all move over to the below linked thread? The OP provides examples and very detailed information. Plus it has over 150 pages! I'd really like to see this issue fixed, but we need to be an organized community on this.

Thank you
it'll get fixed when they have more content and they are not trying to hold us back anymore..
funny thing is, they throttle us so we don't get bored and stop paying.. but in the process we get bored and stop playing
3 snap shots a second is "technically fine" however moving down to say 10 snap shots a second would add much needed accuracy, with 0.3 there is very little margin of error. However this increases overhead, you will see much more rubber banding, more freak lag spikes, more jitter - well more server crap. They could also add a much more severe server prediction but then this adds more crap on top. To fix the delay for example in boss situations they could add on time to the casts thus negating the effect for fighting the server snapshot of proving that you were out(thus making it easier) or keep same time but add more accuracy.
Or learn rotation, beat the server snapshot and win.
i have stopped playing my blm cause of casting delays like hell, and cant finish titan, bad aoe delay.
TERA had Server Crashes, Server ping Spikes and enough bugs there and here.
Every MMO had it's issues.
I actually created this thread after that thread was closed and reopened by mods citing it as an end game discussion thread. Many, many people were also mistaking it for a QQ about Titan thread. I did link to that thread in the OP, and still post in it though.
Oh, I'm not saying no MMO has issues. However no MMO ever has had the issue where you get hit by AOEs when you're out. Not a single one. Every MMO gets lag and server crashes at launch though, and I have never once complained about the server crashes, or latency itself. However, I should not be getting hit by AOEs I was out of, period.
That get hit by AoE even if out thing is indeed FF exclusive.
And it's because of that 0.3 PC position check thingy.
But what to do ? If the devs don't decide to change this then what ?
I used Leatrix latency fix, it helped to get that tiny bit of resources out of my network.
lol...all games have this, you just need to google to get dozens of Threads from any Game about the same issue and guess what; People blame the Game for it and that no other Games has this issues.
I do not deny the Problem, but i seriously find this sort of comments funny and sometimes pathetic. You can go and discuss the Topic and the actual Problem, but seriously stop trying to pretend that other Game's don't have the same issues. They have and it is the same like in this forum, some people have more issue's than other people and some don't have Problems at all.
Seems SE is still sleeping...
I'm quite sure SE has not yet heard that people are having an issue. Please, bark louder until you get the answer you are looking for. We need more threads and we need them all to be bumped every hour to get the point across. Until there is a response in every thread from a dev then we can ONLY assume they are not listening or have not heard ;)
I think people are looking for any answer, which is why threads keep popping up. We don't even know if it's an issue that's going to be addressed at all, or if they're saying things are good as is. There hasn't (to my, or many people's knowledge) been any comment about it by anyone official after they reduced the delay going from beta to release. If you know of something, it would be more beneficial to post it here rather than be snarky.

The last post on that thread seems to show SE's attitude towards the player base with lag issues.
"We don't see anyone else posting about lag, so it must have solved itself."
