Can someone tell me why everyone is upset about the logout timer?

People will always find something to complain about, even if there is nothing to complain about.

Should be 2 hours or so: Get rid of the sleepers / people at work etc, leave the rest of us to AFK during the DF wait. Also allows us to keep up on the chat that went on while we were AFK.

As is loads of us will simply use macros (external) and run against walls to stay logged in.

I log out when I go sleep, or when I got to work, I shouldn't get logged out whilst I watch something on the internet waiting for the damn DF to pop.

Look at it as a valuable teaching moment, you can show them how to navigate the infinitely complex procedure that is clicking the "LOGIN" button.

Personally I support it while we are having issues with the servers not being able to support the number of players, although it will do little to stop someone who wants to stay logged in, I have a g-15 and it can easily create a macro that will send a button press at a specified time interval thus rendering the AFK timer useless.

Except it has already been established that people are getting into the game easily without the afk timer so your point is nullified. Either people are getting in all the time with no problem and the server stress is reduced by kicking afkers OR afkers are getting kicked to allow people in. Either way, AFK timer is a relevant system.

FFS, stop making the same stupid argument. People will log on to play anyways, whether the AFKers are there or not. Having AFKers there increases the stress. Sure it's less than active players, but it does contribute.

people will just stay sticking toothpicks on their keys and spam direction keys or some buff every x minutes to prevent getting logged out anyway
And SE isn't even doing anything about the botters and gold spammers, they're everywhere and hogging up more spaces then the "AFK" players

While in DPS, I usually have to wait an hour to get inside a dungeon, and not all the time i would like to stare at it or do something in game until it is ready, why I am force to do some command to it every 30 minutes. Is it our fault playing DPS to have to wait so long for a dungeon since we like playing the class we want?

you're forcing us to log out ..that makes the whole experience unhappy. I'm not the type that hogs my character online 24/7. I do log out when I am sleeping, at school, at work or long duration away. But just a short break like an hour shouldn't be forced off.

Seriously this isn't the way to handle their server capacity issue by force kicking people off the server.

only thing rude is those who keep bring it up and stirring the pot, think its time the mods bring a time out timer to the forums for excessive complaining about a subject thats been beat to death.
