Double/Triple melding being overpowered was fun, especially if you had the gil. But I would never say that I'll miss it being hardcore, as fun as it was to laugh at people losing 10-15 million gil at an attempt to be 2% better than other people with one item. I had remarkable luck with my double melds, but it's an awful system.
Also, depending on how much they adjust the double meld percentage, it will greatly relieve the issue of what is easily the most obnoxious part of the relic quest. That alone is reason enough to be happy about this.
