If SE is taking away my hard work...

People crying about how the gil change will hurt their purchasing power are obviously overlooking the fact that regardless if they did anything to gil your purchasing power is going to be severly changed due to the games new items/mechanics/gameplay/focus and other things. Changing the digit count has no real effect on your purchasing power, if anything the people who should be worried are those who have their vestments tied up in materials and other items that will flucuate in price greatly (Up and down).

You want to make it big in 2.0 off the bat? better start throwing your gil into items you feel will be big sellers at launch (Of course you could get totally boned by taking a poor guess at the market) But it's the only option you have if you feel your Gil is loosing it's value (It's not) But feel free to buy up everyones Karakul Fleece with the maxed out gil you have.

Thats the reason why i dont focus on gil anymore, i just fill up all my chars/retainers with HQ materials for 2.0, prolly some of them might be worthless but i bet some of them will be really important and massively overprized...

Prices are skyrocketing as we get closer to the apocalypse. It's a combination of panic/demand/supply as people leave the game and try to be 'absolutely ready' for 2.0 (hint: no one will be). Now is a REALLY bad time to be buying, methinks.
