Yea, people can't wait 2 months to play the game.
There are a lot of things you could do besides FF you know.

What's the point of playing after the saved data process? No.
I vote yes because when you take away the 'reward of progression', the game-play of the 1.0 client will change completely into something i believe to be genuinely awesome.
No longer will people play to advance, they'll just play for the 'anything goes'.
Personally, i'd love to get together with groups of 30+ players and take on a high level goobue.
The dungeons won't be speed run based anymore, nor will caravan be about saving the chocobos, nor will hamlet defence be about the score. Caravan could be about killing the chocobos and it wouldn't really matter because the reward isn't the purpose.
It'll be LOTS OF FUN.
Because many people are probably busy trying to finish quests, achievements, and do other things that will no longer be available in 2.0.
Once the data is saved on November 1, there will not be any time pressure to accomplish many of these things because it won't carry over... so that is when we can start to relax and take screenshots, record cutscenes, try silly things, or just hang around and socialize with in-game friends.
I voted yes.
I voted yes as well and for many of the reasons you state. I just wna to have a bit of fun and still be able to keep up w the friends ive made. Sure, not all will play....i wouldnt expect them to....but why cant there be an easier option for those who still in want to play? Why so black and white with the decision?
I think that each character should have an individual choice to particiapte in playng after nov 11th. If you choose no, then u cant log on.....if you choose yes, you get grouped onto a server with the others that said yes, so you can continue to play on a somewhat populus server. It would be really cool, if the latter could opt in to NOT have their data saved when everyone else does. This way we could continue to get stuff done ingame and have our final save when 1.0 officially goes down. Just an idea.
I happened on to this thread first, noted alot of the votes were no. So I voted yes because some times I ust like to be a contrary little prick.
No because I don't want another RuneScape / RuneScape Classic situation.
I don't think this is a poll to ask if we want to keep 1.0 around forever (i.e. having 2.0 and 1.0 running concurrently).
It is just to let people continue playing FFXIV until 2.0 goes live... instead of leaving a complete void for those who don't play any other games.
Aye, nuff said. XD
