Is 7.2 the last patch to even save Dawntrail at this point?(SPOILERS AHOY)

All the backlash the game has received since DT (in particular) will backfire at some point, there's no going around it. Maybe then they can act on it if their supremely rigid japanese agenda permits changes... though it's been dragging on for years at this point.

Sure, might be more than normal now during Dawntrail, but still within the "acceptable amount".
Doesn't help that people complain yet still pay a sub. That only shows that people might not agree with the expansion but doesn't consider it bad enough to stop playing, which itself is within acceptable parameters.

What people have to do if they aren't happy is to not just complain and do nothing about it.
People have to stop playing and end their subscriptions.
Ofc, there are no promises that such actions will yield results.
And probably why a lot of people don't do it.
But it sure leaves a stronger message than remain paying for "bad content".

The real problem is that square also doesn't understand what the audience really wants. You have casual ,mid-core, hard-core but you don't understand your own concept for difficulty in the game. Mind you im more mid-core slowly getting into hardcore content but what of the casual players. Having arcadian fru and WOD chaotic back to back from each made it seem like se only looking out for hardcore players vs entire player base. Granted it takes time for content to come out but it really doesn't set the stage for the future of your patches.

No. 7.2 is not the last patch nor is it the first patch. The expansion has been released, it's here, it's done and dusted. You can't save the story unless you decide to retcon and rewrite the entire expansion because the problems weren't just the plot and narrative, but also the originality and creativity in general. I've stated this before but I came to this game to play Final Fantasy XIV not some sheltered individual's idea of Meso America while drinking coffee in Starbucks after paying a visit to Taco Bell Final Real World Expy XIV, where the entire expansion outside of plot is trying to regurgitate an extremely watered and dumbed down real world culture over and over and over and over while boasting continuously about how amazingly diverse and peaceful Tural is and your mere presences makes it even more peaceful and diverse thank you so much Warrior of Light and Wuk Lamat for making this peaceful and diverse place more peaceful and diverse than it was before.

The only thing I care about is the field operation. If they screw that up the game is done and toasted.

CAR was a great addition to the raid tier formula, imo. But the game still lacks the long-form content that keeps an MMO alive. Field operations need to be added much earlier in the expansion cycle, Diadem and Island Sanctuary need to be maintained and caught up to current content tiers of rewards, and you should be able to buy tomestone gear augmentation stuff with bicolor gems in addition to hunts. Doing those things would go a LONG way towards keeping people interested.

As it is, if you were to simply DELETE shadowbringers through dawntrail and have the game end at stormblood, you would have a better game. Because you would have diadem, you'd have eureka, you'd have baldesian arsenal, you'd have deep dungeons, and an ultimate, and all of it would be current and relevant.
