Character graphical changes are NOT in an acceptable state, please make it optional

There's definitely some weird things going on with facial hair that I am not a fan of at all. Lighter haired characters have theirs almost entirely disappear.

Here's a shot of the same hair color in the benchmark itself, and even then, you have to get really close to your monitor to notice there's even the faintest bit of fuzz. It's a really huge and jarring change that basically makes the stubble non-existent for anyone that doesn't have a dark haired character.

Wanted to post on this thread to bump the hair highlights issue that Tethan included in their original post (thank you!!) which linked to my thread about it. It seems that what has happened in my case is that two similar/"variant" hairstyles (fem Viera #9 and 10) have had the exact same highlight pattern applied to them, despite the fact that #10 has both bangs and a side braid which end up getting completely left out. This is pretty odd to me considering the fact that in the current "non-updated" game, these two hairstyles have distinct highlight patterns; I have no idea why Square would change and arguably worsen this in the update.

As you can see, the deletion of the bangs and braid highlights is pretty obvious and really changes my character's overall appearance. I really hope that Square re-implements the individual highlight patterns for variant hairstyles like fem Viera #9 and 10 going forward instead of just applying the same thing to both cases, because I'm pretty disappointed with how this stands in the benchmark.

i've mentioned it before, i'll mention it again. if it actually took them 2 years to make everyone look like smoothed over potatoes, then they shouldn't have bothered boasting about how "we don't want your characters to look like different people" and then take a pneumatic sander to the models removing things like m! elezen cheekbones, keeper miqo fangs, eyebrows on anyone with a hair color lighter than DARK BROWN, made a huge mess of dark skinned characters with an absurdly grey undertone, made everyone's skin look like the waxy texture of an embalmed corpse, killed the lighting from the eyes of races that had bright, nigh glowing eyes (miqote).

it looks like they used blender's smoothing tool after using an ai to increase polygon count.

the only things that actually look redone are clothing/armor textures. the actual bodies look SO MUCH WORSE. like a bad ai upscale.

I love the new face shape, horns, scales, mouth etc, I'm so thankful they fixed the terrible neck seam and pixelated hair, but i reeeeeally dislike how her skin looks covered in a layer of chalk dust AND her eyes are SOOOO DARK??? Her limbals blend with her iris and its all so dark. Even changing all the colors she still looks dusty and her eyes are dark and blend together :(
I think the pores and the forehead wrinkles are too much on other race/genders, I think the pores are why my wol looks dusty, and the transition at the neck of Super Pores and Wrinkles to smooth skin is so sharp on other races, especially men

They worked so hard and did such a good job there's just a few things I'd really like to change :(
Also while we're at it could I please actually put lipstick on my au ra, all the lip colors look so grey currently and I was hoping the DT update would let us wear actual color like other races can but it didn't :(
And lot of people miss the lip shine, I like the matte in the benchmark so I think it would be nice to toggle it so we can have both

Edit to add: After fighting with the colors a long time I've decided I don't like the lip reshape. With the loss of that faux shadow under her bottom lip, she looks like a clown or like she has tuberculosis

There are definitely some bugs and bizarre issues that need fixing, but a lot of the complaints I'm seeing are just nitpicking. Everyone should absolutely leave feedback, but understand that it is impossible to update the graphics in a way 100% of people are going to like. No matter what they do, some people are going to hate how their character looks now and unfortunately they're just going to have to deal with it or fanta. I'm honestly amazed the devs stayed as close to the originals as they did.

It's funny how history repeats itself. I remember back in the day when people were outraged about the WoW model update, saying all the same things they're saying now, and honestly more justifiably so given the magnitude of the changes.

I am fully understanding of people having issues with the update. I even agree with some of the issues being shown. But...I have seen a few issues posted that are so outside the ball park of reasonable. That the ball is in the parking lot having crashed through the windshield of a rolls royace. Lets try to keep the critism in the ball park.

Some mentally fragile people will probably quit over this update as well. As I said, it's impossible to please everyone. :)

Question, without any sort of drama or arguments attached; I'm simply curious.

How many people plan to quit over these changes?
