This guy gets it.

A lot of us aren't even all that keen on content creators in the first place, though we're pleased to see them discuss the game critically and repeat talking points that we have been bringing to the table many times already.

To say nothing of the fact that a lot of us have been stalked and sent credible threats for daring to offer critical feedback in the first place. So seeing streamers join the chorus is certain a major confidence boost for those of us who regularly have to deal with the extremely unpleasant and cult-like elements of this game's fanbase.

So what you're saying is we cant agree with a streamer because then we dont have an opinion of our own

So if I share an opinion with Zepla for example, or MrHappy or whoever else, that means I cant get an opinion for myself

I can respect this position. It's generally good practice to list out some discussion points along with the link or, as various posters have done in the past, bring up those discussion points from one's own perspective.

Sadly despite people doing this there's been a lot of attempts at derailment and people who simply do not wish to engage in topics about the game's issues in good faith. I would say that some do feel a sense of security in that these higher profile personalities are now openly discussing the lacklustre state of things after having been made to feel silenced or backed into a corner for so long.

I suppose that's largely where I fall into, as the things these content creators have only barely begun to discuss are things that have been on my mind for quite some time. As an ARR vet I've been through the game through all its highs and lows bar 1.0 - and this feels off on a whole other level compared to the past.

This too. I'm speaking as someone who loves/loved FFXIV but having to weather the sort of backlash I've gotten for expressing my distate at the current state of things does take it's toll, albeit slowly. I take the position of if you care about something, you should speak about it's issues and how it can improve. The people who seem to want things to stay this way seem to do so because they don't like seeing the game being criticized. But if such changes were to be given official sanction, I have a hard time believing they'd be against them.

or..... these are sentiments that have been said, repeatedly, with responses typically of "there's nothing wrong", "it's just the first step of the relic", "just go play something else" etc etc etc and now the videos from content creators are being shared to show, hey, its actually not just a tiny minority of players that feel this way and that, for those of us who love FFXIV, want to have our concerns recognized and addressed.

And yea, I know, some just want to show again that FFXIV is failing. There can be more than one type of critical opinion on the direction of FFXIV.

I'm not blind to the fact that the folks on this forum are distressed at the direction the game is headed in, but I confess I never considered that maybe having a streamer "in your field" would bolster the opinions of the worried or shy.

My problems are not with Zepla, or with the feeling that the game is failing. That sentiment is present on every single forum of every single game ever, ever.

Verde hit the nail on the head. The ... disgust comes from seeing people willingly suborn their own intelligence to be the "first" to offer up a streamers newest... "content" in place of their *own* ideas.

Yeah yeah, I know you can agree with the streamer. In those cases, one doesn't *usually* need to try to absorb reflected gloss by obsessively linking/discussing/posting about the streamer. Post your opinion.

This gets forums and content creators kinda backwards. People dont become fans of content creators to have someone tell them what to think, they go to content creators that think like them. The complainers post so much about the recent zepla videos because she agrees with them on some points. If she hadnt, they wouldnt post about her as much.
