The reason FFXIV is lacking content is because of casualization.

I can't remember who he was interviewed by recently but console exclusivity is just 6 months to PS5..however he said they wouldn't get a PC port done in 6 months more likely a year or so after PS5 release due to as others have mentioned just the game in its current state isn't optimised to run on the myriad of PC configs. It does make sense also because he did comment that Sony did lend a lot of their engineers too them to help tap into the hardware and optimise the game further. Exclusivity isn't just coming to a platform S-E and Sony have a really good relationship...I am still waiting for them to be bought by Sony at some point in the next few years.

Agreed.

My guess is it isnt if its when....but I wont be surprised if the port wont take place for a year, maybe longer.

Haha I apologize on stealing some thunder...I do keep track of a lot of things that are said interview wise. I know PC elitists would be like my computer could shit on a PS5 doesn't matter if the game isn't optimised to use your hardware the right way. That is like them optimising FF14 recently even on PS5 it ran worse in places than it did using the PS4 version in backwards compatible mode. I could replicate 4-5 locations that panning my camera would exhibit fps drops for some reason. After 6.2 it cleared up a lot of issues, they aren't nearly tapping into PS4 hardware enough. PC is more holding back 14 at this moment in time purely because of the low end spec entry.

That would be a hope. However given the trend that a majority of these "games gone wrong" clip compilations are people playing on PC experiencing glitches in their version of the game... at least we can get some amusing videos if it's not. lol

Funny thing is SE is a former shadow of itself from years ago. Squaresoft was the thing in the 90's early 2000's. When they became SE they went downhill. When it comes to FF titles 6 through 9 were the best then it went downhill from there. If it's about casuals then why play a MMO why not a single player game? Most of the time the casuals sit in a city for 95% of the time treating it like a AOL chatroom. Then when they actually get into content and fail most of the time and then people criticize them of their skill level they hoop and holler saying they are bullied. Well if you knew how to play instead of talking to a stranger behind a screen (that doesn't really know you) maybe you be better. I rather take someone who know what they are doing then someone sitting around a city most of the day doing nothing

By what metric? SE has more revenue, profit, tittle, employees, value .etc. then it ever was.

The majority of Kingdom Heart release.

The majority of Dragon Quest games.

Nier Series.

Otocpath traveler.

The Valkyrie series.

All of them provided either comparable or superior gaming experience to CT, or any other cult classic of the time.

The PSX and PS2 era were definitely the golden era and many of the tittle back then will always have a special place in my heart, but the rose-tint glasses of nostalgia does not prevent me from appreciate newer and better thing.

More than likely the name dropping of Chrono Trigger has nothing to do with sales numbers and more to do with the game still being called one of the gold standards of JRPGs appearing on nearly every list. Something that even FFVII cannot claim but FFVI can.

Related hot take by me (in the wrong thread lol) but I honestly find Octopath to be the gold standard for RPGs at present. Not that I don’t think Chrono Trigger is anything less than iconic, but I’d really point to either Octopath or the Bravely series if I was asked ‘what kind of rpg do you want’.
