Effects of ping/latency on animation lock and ability to perform rotations normally.

I want this to be addressed too.

I'm on NA with friends and am unable to play MCH, NIN, BRD or even RPR now thanks to clipping. Why not allow rollback or deal with the animation lock on oGCDs so we can open up playing all classes properly?

At current my plans for those classes are "Wait for DC Travel and go to EU", as I refuse to give up playing with friends.

We should not need to be paying for VPNs.

We need official response, all that third party stuff literally improving your gameplay creates unfair environment and needs to be adressed.

Please devs, it's time to fix the animation lock/lag issue.

You start clipping during Hypercharge once your animation lock time exceeds 750 ms. Heat Blast recast is 1500 ms and using an ability after it adds another animation lock which needs to resolve before the next Heat Blast.

The base animation lock is 600 ms, the game processes packets on a frame basis and at 60 fps the time between frames is ~17 ms, the server doesn't seem to accept packets faster than at ~33 ms tick rate so if you're moving or sheating your weapon while doing your actions, the action packet might be pushed to the next frame/tick which may double the frame+server delay. Even before any kind of ping, you're looking at a 650-700 ms animation lock in normal gameplay scenarios depending on how well you happen to match the frame and server ticks. This leaves about 50-100 ms for ping before you start clipping. Ping above 100 ms if definitely in the danger zone.

This occurred around 8:30 PM US central time on Jan 23, 2022. My latency as reported by Resource Monitor was fluctuating around 100-150 ms. Based on where my GCD lined up with Chain Saw, I was consistently losing about 1.5 seconds every minute due to Hypercharge. At 2:15 in the video, my last Heat Blast cast canceled itself.

Exact same thing happens to me as well. MCH is a Job I just know I can enjoy... but I can't play it. Same with BRD. Honestly going to switch to OCE once I test my ping there. Like, imagine switching entire regions just so that you can play a Job you wish to enjoy, leaving behind friends and houses.

i know yoship is a well meaning guy and all but when he's pressed about stuff he clearly has no idea about, which to be fair i wouldn't expect your average game director/producer to know about the intricacies of networking beyond what he is told by people who work in his team, he just kinda goes in circles. what surprised me the most was that he seemed completely blindsided that there was such a problem plaguing overseas players.
