Unfortunately, even with forced PvP, they would probably never actually be in the open world. As they would probably either be in Limsa or the basement of a "venue". Not to mention there is barely a reason to even be out in the world in the first place, even if they weren't at those specific locations.

That is fine as long as it's optional, I don't like pvp in any game so mandatory pvp would drive me out.

They'd never make it forced wpvp though- there's a difference between asking for an unpopular feature others wouldn't have to use- and asking that everyone in the game be forced to be subjected to that feature.

Many people would quit FFXIV if wpvp was forced, because wpvp is consistently hated even when it's optional like in WoW.

SE doesn't really even have time to monitor Feast so adding another mode that would produce player reports 24/7 wouldn't help. We should rather focus on the existing modes and overall improvement of PvP instead :P

I'd welcome flagged pvp. I don't believe it would "improve the game immensely" but it could make things more fun. Also, a while back, I read some crap about how the WoL can't go around "killing" people? If people who think like that took a small step back, maybe the WoL isn't killing people so much as simply "defeating" them. So yes, devs could replace the term "kill" with "defeat." And if you had to be super technical, they could even set the threshold at 1-10hp for victory conditions.

Anywho, I feel like they could start out small by simply allowing players to, at the very least, duel each other outside the cities without having to teleport to a specific place to do it. You know, change the scenery of your fight and add a bit of flair to it.

I really liked open world PvP in WoW, ages ago (but disliked L2 a lot). It was nice because of the war between Alliance and Horde. Also, you could choose with PvE and PvP servers. Nowadays, PvP servers TAG has gone, and you need to activate Warmode.
But I'm pretty sure that open world PvP won't fit FF14. So no.

Instead of open world PvP, FF14 Devs should add a big battleground like Alterac Valley (WoW BG).

The way how Jobs in PvP are currently designed, renders duelling a complete waste of time, unless both combatants are both dps AND both either melee or ranged. Any other combination makes a duel either completely onesided or a endless fight where the only option to end the fight, is to surrender.

What makes things alot worse, is that almost all abilities in any Job are just PvE skills in nature. There are hardly any debuffs, crowd control effects, placeable hazards or gimmicks avaiable, hell, we don't even have a proper Meta working.

And don't even get me started with the cesspool that is feast. The only people who genuinely enjoy it are the ones occupying the ranking ladder since ancient times trough elo boosting/elimination of rivals with the help of alt characters.

Re. all this discussion about dark knight morality, it's important to note that the idea of Fray personally being the WoL and other people only seeing you say those things is a creation of the English translator. In the Japanese version he is still a manifestation of your dark side – all the things you would never do or say and keep stifled at the back of your mind – who has somehow seeped out of your subconscious and taken over the body you found dead in the Brume. People see and talk to him separately to you.

Honestly, in the English version, it's mostly left vague if he's physically there or not. The only time it's implied that he's not is when he references Leviathan and the NPCs act like it's the player who said it. Otherwise it's no different from any other time an NPC talks for the player and other NPCs react as if it's the player saying things.

Sry but this dosnt make any sense in this game, even WoW players only activate it for the xp and reward buff and dont fight each other most of the time. So if you feel the urge to gank and annoy somebody go and play one of the hundrets surivial or other games which activily support this kind of behaviour.
