Suspension of character creation: how long?

When you can explain how it's SE's fault and actually have argument besides complaining about the servers being full, someone might actually side with you. As it stands, you still haven't produced a valid argument. Your friend is the one you need to talk to for not using the pass when you gave it to him and then waiting 4 months and then using it without saying a word. Communication goes a long way.

Meanwhile, the pass worked as intended. He can play for 30days. Not being able to get on the server you want because it's full is called 'an unforeseen consequence of waiting' and since the pass itself worked as intended, SE has no obligation to replace it. *puts sunglasses on* Deal with it.

If the question your asking is - Whos fault is it the server is full? Well technically it is SE's fault that the server is full?

Im not sure if your grasping what my complaint was about. It was that i cant get a new pass from SE because my friend cant create a character and play with me.

Opening servers just so you and your friend can play together would further congest the servers and cause more issues with memory and crashes. Because don't think that your friend won't be the only one to get in. Your request for one person would inconvenience everyone else. It's pretty selfish.

If you love your friend so much, why don't you re roll on another server.

Your both completely missing the point. Dont want the servers opened just for me and my friend. Dont want the exception of having a guest pass to allow me to open the servers until the server is adjusted and can run properly. All i want is a new guest pass code so when the time comes and the server is open my friend can happily get his free 30 day trial while I try give him every chance possible to enjoy the game.

is there any possibility of implementing something similar to the "World Pass" system from XI which allowed people to join a specific server granted they had a key someone had given to them. I realize that some servers are near capacity, but I'm positive more people than Oreth and myself have friends waiting for Durandal to openup.

Can't they just send mass emails to all those people who have character with less than say... 20 cumulative levels, and be like "hey, we need to delete your characters so other people can join, respond to this if you want it kept (you don't even need to pay!)."

If you're not playing for at least an hour, I'd say it's absolutely fair that your "bandwidth" be freed up so others can have a smoother experience. Just log back in when you return. It takes a couple minutes.

Hell, some games will kick you back to character select after 20 minutes.

Also I've been waiting since May 1st (yeah I know that's not very long compared to when the ban was created) to join Durandal, and this is getting a bit rediculous. Most of my chars are from Gridania.. I have 2 from Ul'dah but their Grand Companies are Limsa and Gridania. I spend most of my time away from Ul'dah. Much more peaceful~ Less lag. Playing this game my computer already sounds like it's trying to take off into space. It's much worse in Ul'dah. (Sometimes even freezes). lol

In case you think he's just picking on you: If you were to go to court and tell a judge the same thing you've posted. That you gave your friend a buddy pass 4 months ago and he just used it last week without first checking with you and without you telling him 'Dude, my servers full.' they would ALSO find in SE's favor not yours. The buddy pass worked. He can in fact, play for free for 30 days.

And it's not SO bad that he's on another server...you could always create an alt and join him there...your current character will still be here ready to use etc. So you CAN play together...you just need to move yourself in order to do it. Maybe next time you and your friend will be clearer with eachother.

Also, at least the complaint is now 'my server is full' and not 'no one is ever playing'.

Yes, in 2.0 I'm sure SE will have a system that allows friends to get on 'full' servers. But for now, we have to deal with the 'beta-esk' servers/service. But just because this system isn't in place, doesn't mean SE owes you anything. The pass was for a free 30day trial period, which your friend got.
