As with most things they do, if the community asks for something that falls in-line with their overall game design plan then they're more willing to go along with it. I'm mostly just talking about the talk of going from neighborhoods to purely instanced housing where anyone can own a large house in a void.

Honestly, the best housing system ever was Wildstar. God... the game may not have been that good, but the housing system was stellar. And I'd honestly LOVE it if they did it with FFXIV, but after so many years of them just expanding on the neighborhood design I have very little hope they'd change things. As other people have pointed out there's so much development time that's been dedicated to it already that it'd be a shame to throw it away. A part of me still thinks they've run the numbers and find that people are less unwilling to unsubscribe if they get a personal house, too. And thus it makes them more money.

As I've already stated, I don't believe instanced housing is in the cards. Not at this point in the game's life. They've dug themselves in too deep. However, I do believe these devs, and any other MMO devs out there who are looking at it, should be made aware, and should not be allowed to forget: this system is garbage.

Yeah, I'll agree with that. I just don't see it happening with XIV at all. There's only been one other MMO in recent memory that incorporated limited housing/land and it was Archeage and people could at least sell to each other. Every other has been instanced and it worked great.

Same as the majority of persons here asking for instanced housing, you are just one of very few people here defending is proof enough the system is not working, perhaps for you it's working very well! It's quite clear with the majority here in one loud chorus that the system is indeed with flaws and like everything else can be changed whether you like it or not.

Updoot for Wildstar's housing ;). I'm fine if you think it a pipe dream and barking mad to hope for, but intend to do it anyways. Lol. The amazing things we could do with a game with FFXIV's art direction and a Wildstar like housing system. God, sweet God ... Very want. Maybe never for this game but at least how awesome if they took the feedback for the next~ (will still hope for this one too though lol).

I'd be down for fully instanced housing. It doesn't even come down to gil most of the time. Just whoever gets lucky enough to log in as soon as the servers come up and gets to the plot quickest. Really awful system.

In other words, the system is broken because YOU cannot get a house, so your solution is to ruin housing for the people that can get one. Here's a brutal fact, you don't NEED a house.

How did it get changed? Making an item still requires the same. Chances of it being HQ still work the same way. Making collectables still work the same way.

Only skills changed, how you make an actual item and HQ it still functions fundamentally the same. So no, they didn't rebuild/overhaul crafting itself, just some particular skills.

That's why you can still work out how to make an item under these new changes, even if you used to rely 100% on macros. Otherwise, you'd have to go down to lvl 5 and figure out again how crafting actually works now. And that's the lythmus test of whether crafting actually changed or not: a new player back in ShB and a new player now still learn to craft the same way. The only thing that changes is what skills they press.

Instance housing is a dumb idea because as I said in another thread, you just have a lonely space with just you and nobody can see it unless they know to teleport to it. Making outside decorations pretty pointless because who's gonna see your pretty yard?
Also everybody and their chocobo will just buy a large making smells and mediums pointless outside a select few who don't like all that space.

And this is why a lot of us say: Both. Keep the ward system with a timer for those that want neighbors and give the rest of us that dont care about this our instanced housing.

Also you sound like housing is only there so that other can see how well you decorated it and for the sense of owning a large but for quite a few of us its not about that. I dont care if anyone can see my garden or not. All I care about is making it nice looking for myself. I also dont care how many people have large ones or medium ones or small ones. Even if every single player owned a large I would not care because I dont see housing as a status symbol.

In the end SE decided that they are limited but also love to push out more and more house items as rewards...which imo makes no sense..at the same time we cant also forget that a ward that will always exist also means bad news if the servers would ever need to be combined together. And with more and more people playing they will need to push out more and more wards or maybe one day hit the maximum amount which in turn will leave even more people angry.

I own two large ones and I still believe that the system is broken and have for years. Also why would instanced housing ruin it for people? A lot of us are saying that they could easily keep the wards and the rest of us that already have houses might even profit from it by exchanging a ward one for an instanced one thus no timer and maybe depending on the system we could even buy more houses if they gave us access to more than one instanced one.
