In a RP environment, yes. But in actual content where you have to heal others in group settings like EX roulette or the duty finder then no.

I'm sure if you can RP a crazy story like Kan-E going around Hulk-smashing peoples kneecaps in with her staff on off days, you can RP a reason to use a job stone.

In RP it wouldn't make any sense to be a white mage anyway, technically they are very rare and mostly Padjals. Just get the stone become a white mage and then RP as a Conjurer. If you were to RP as a white mage you would get the stink eye I'm pretty sure. Hell it's RP just RP as a healer and not even a conj.

In other words RP is RP and game mechanics are mechanics the two are normally separate
But in the name of lil lalas don't run dungeons with out a stone you are hurting yourself and the party. -

I'm not certain why you don't get the job stone and keep your RP and your instance/raid running separate. It's not hard.
For example, my RP story is that I'm not the WoL. He's the midlander you see in the trailers. I'm a childhood friend and go along with him on his adventures.
That doesn't require me just sitting around in the starter zone. I just say I was with him when I do a quest. -
