Whenever I went to our local ice cream parlor, I always order chocolate. Because I like it.
When they changed the recipe to be "different" I stopped going there.

It's an MMO, it really depends on what you do in the game. If i'm tired of leveling battle jobs I'll work on my gatherers/crafters. Maybe I'll do pvp to change up the pace, or do maps, or honestly just do sightseeing/fishing. Just restricting yourself to the same things day by day will lead to a burnout, so try something different for variety.
However with mechanics, they are repetitive yet people still manage to die to the same ones over and over. Hmmmmm. Some things never change.
Yeah, I'm getting a little bored, but that's normal for me. No matter how good a game is, I always get bored of it eventually. FFXIV is a great game. However, this recent expansion seems slightly more severe in terms of re-skinned mobs and recycled content. I actually want to play a brand new FF MMO, but it doesn't look like one is coming out anytime soon.
That could be applied to anything, but that’s far too broad an anecdote to apply to something as complex as this I believe. Just because you may not like the change, that doesn’t exclude the possibility that the majority of people can and do. No business would have ever changed or innovated if change wasn’t important.
I don't see FFXIV changing its formula too much, nor do I see it improving its graphics or some of the other things we've requested.
If anything, I see them making a new FF MMO to replace FFXIV once it starts to decline assuming they even want to make another MMORPG in the future.
