Lack of End Game Content

I can only play around 3ish hours max a day if I'm lucky, so to me there's plenty of end game content to do, stuff to clear, and my roulettes alone take half of that time availability. However I can see it being an issue for people with more time to dedicate to the game, or to people with a very specific set goal in mind.

Sadly it's difficult to proper balance those things, at least to me, because you might end up with a situation in which people with less time to play may never catch up to people that can play six hours a day every day. I do agree with some things you pointed out though.

And before someone drops the hardcore vs casual player card, people can be casual and play plenty as well as being hardcore and playing just a couple hours every day.
To me it just feels like people with a little bit more time to dedicate to XIV tend to run out of things they like to do faster, but Yoshi mentioned a lot of times that he wants this game to be a "no full commitment to X hours a day" kind of game.

But there is and has always been a lack of end-game content(lv80 only content) for FFXIV until mid way through an expansion. It is how this game is structured and doubtful it would change as that would require different patch cycles which they seem hesitant to ever do again after the 3.0 -> 3.1 delay.

That said they have been slowly working on adding more, we are going to have another dungeon with savage release which they have never done for previous X.05 releases, Ultimates in SB were a very welcome addition and its good to hear they had plans to continue making them as these also made dungeon gear relevant something no other content has been able to do outside leveling. Baldesion Arsenal while a poor implementation was really good content and brought a lot of the community together.

The big problem with all these are they are not going to be coming for patches(3 months to 1.5 years) and when you look at a base expansion it is lacking but the devs are aware and do try to add more to it should resources allow.

The "dungeon" released alongside Savage is just another version of Aquapolis/Canals, nothing to get too excited over. It might work differently, but I wouldn't get too hype.

There are games with not enough end game content and there are people with too much free time at their hands which no video game can satisfy forever.

You sure? they specifically said dungeon and presented it as 9 new dungeons in the expansion(we only have 8 atm) and they tend to class Aquapolis/Canals as a different type of content than dungeons

It might work like a typical dungeon, but it's still just going to be the same old "poke a treasure map chest and pray to get in" type of thing, I bet. I doubt we'll be getting a standard 4 man dungeon of the kind that we're used to, if that's what you're thinking.

I reread the 5.0 patch notes, and it specifically says

So whether it's an actual "dungeon" or just the name is up in the air, we won't know till we hear more. Until then I'm gonna keep my expectations low and assume it's just a reskinned Aquapolis again.

hmm this has me a fair bit skeptical of their marketing, the lost canals were released in 4.05 and were not classed as a dungeon nor did SE promote it as such. :/

By that logic you dont need any endgame content " There are people who can only play 10 minutes a day, they will be fine!".

Lets all admit that FFXIV is not overly generous with max-level content that isnt extremely repetitive farming for cosmetics (and sometimes not even that). It would not hurt, but help the game if they would have more. Of course this is likely a matter of limited ressources, and while I personally would gladly give up a lot of the badly designed side activities for an actual raid dungeon, this is obviously about personal preference.

One thing that seems very obvious in any MMO when some players wish for more content, there are always those that try to insult them, as if it would harm them when there was more raiding content introduced.
I imagine its mostly about not wanting somebody ELSE to get something.

The thing is though, in the majority of cases, if we want something (or they make a new type of content) then they have to pull resources away from other things.

Asking for and getting more max level content will cause other areas of the game to suffer for it. Would you be okay with losing a Deep Dungeon in exchange for another raid tier? That's how you need to think about these things. We've been told time and again that resources and development schedules are really tight if they want to keep to the standard 3 month release pattern, which they don't want to change as it sets them apart from other MMOs.

I think it's more that there is only so much the developers can output, if they're working on content you don't enjoy then to you that work is undesirable. There is only so much that can be worked on and if they're working more on something I don't want, then they won't have time for the things I do like or they will reduce the amount of the content I like.
