But then why would we even bother being out in the empty overworld to collect skills we can't use anywhere else? Such a pointless concept if that's what they're going to do.

To me it just doesn't make any sense in developing and revealing a fan-favorite, call it a job, show it doing stuff in combat, and then have it *not* be a job.

Doesn't matter what you call it at that point. If it can't raid, it's not a job, and it's not content. At that point, it's a joke. No better than the Wind-Up Red Mage's description.

What's most disappointing is that this is a real possibility.

How is it 'not content' just because all YOU want to do is raid?
Raiding is about 10% of the game, people are always clamouring for 'good side content', thats why Diadem and Eureka were disappointing, because peoole want side content, and indeed many still do play Eureka.

Why raid just to obtain equipment that you wont use anywhere other than in raids?

Because it's usable outside of raids too, and will be arguably a requirement for the next tier of raid.

Except that my comment applied to ALL group content, not just raids. Raids might be whatever % you wish it to be, but the majority of the game is group/party content, and as such I'd like to be able to take the job to use in most of the game's content.

It was a rhetorical question. Its al pointless if youre just doing it for the sake of it. The key point is to do what you enjoy doing.

Also, Lanntis comment on the 'empty overworld'. If the problem is that its empty, why complain about more content being added to it?
