We covered hopes for 5.0, but what are your fears?

People keep saying the same treadmill but also don't want the things they did do to shake things up and ignore the successful ones. I really feel bad for the devs at this point even if I'm called some kind of white knight.



That said, I fear them messing up some of the classes they got perfect in SB. Namely Bard.

I commented about it already here, so I'll just sum it up. New content being rejected does not mean that the problem was "new content". It means what they released suffered from flaws, at times the same flaws that plague the existing content that people don't want, and instead of moving away from those things the devs keep the bad things while introducing new content. So of course it won't be well received.
Also, just because Eureka is a new name and coat of paint slapped on: FATE grind, mob grind, and a lot of RNG, doesn't make it new content. It makes it an amalgamation of content people have been ignoring for years that the devs are intent on forcing us to play. And this is after not one, but two failed iterations of Diadem.

I fear not being entertained, finger crossed i hope they can come up with a new recipe!

More eureka junk for relic weapons.
Lots of recolors of old gear.
No new jobs.
If new jobs, all dps.
Alphanerd or his sister dying.
The new race to be another generic furry race.
If they do viera, for them to oversexualize them.

That the developers put a mandatory MSQ inside the instance servers early on in the expansion just like they did in HW and SB.

Basically, if they repeat the same mistakes that they've done in the past.

My main fear is a radical change in game mechanics and design. Yes, a lot of people is asking for this constantly, but changing radically the game will be another thing instead of FFXIV. I think the current system is ok. Just make adjustments to fix thing, not change the entire system. Also, another increase in the minimum requirements for PC because more graphics additions. I'm fine now, but If hey increase again the requirements i will not be ok.

The gear treadmill, I've never been more annoyed by a game that has made me care so little about gear, I took my ilvl 370 friend for O9S he had an ilvl 355 green dungeon ring and we cleared it 2nd pull and he was unmelded it baffles me that you can be so undergeared but as long as you know the song and dance of the fight you'll win. I want gear to last or mean something because I barely even log on to cap my tomestones I just basically got myself to the basic ilvl for Savage and did it with my friends there's no point in getting gear if you craft since it's better than normal Omega so no need to farm that every week it's so ass backwards.

My biggest fear besides the gear treadmill is just another repeat of HW (SB is just HW really copy and pasted) and they just play it safe with no meaningful content alongside meaningless gear that will be wasted yet again.

What did they do to shake things up?

If we ask for different content, they can't just stick training dummies in a field, add a bunch of punishments, tell us to grind them for the next 3 months and expect us to be grateful.

It's not unreasonable to expect a massive, well-established game development company like Enix to be able to produce decent quality products. If they're unable to do that, they have no business being in the market.

It is very clear that we don't want Eureka, so I'll try to not add the obvious.

- Even more Hildibrand. Please come up with something else, I liked the HW side quest (scholasticate?).

- boring seasonal events with even worse rewards. This year was the first time I didn't do the Halloween event, the lack of creativity in the rewards made me sad.

- relic being introduced so late in the patch cycle. Maybe it was just me, but I felt like I was able to start working on it WAY earlier in ARR/HW.

- Mogstation prices getting even more out of hand. My hate for the Mogstation aside, some of the prices on things are absolutely ridiculous. If an outfit is going to $18, it should be account-wide. Hell, it should all be account-wide!
