but seriously, he didnt quote anyone, he said what he assumed, its a blog, anyone can post anything, quoting something is never a truth unless you provide a direct link to the SE official saying said quote

i was there at launch myself, and i can tell you, while there was alot of stuff discussed, no one gave an official date on companies.

its bad business to promise anything in games nowadays until you are 100% sure you can deliver, and thats something theyve been careful about for the most part(its also a double edged sword since players want the info at the same time)
So you either provide them with info that can be false, or provide as little as possible, can you guess which one they went with?

that second bit i added on was just an addition to the thread in general, since it is a fact ive noticed in pretty much every game release for a while now

Only two weeks? I'm surprised that they don't expect delays in development to last any longer than that. Considering the situation, I would have expected delays to continue much longer.

Last thing I want to do is boost my post count. However, it must be mentioned that the Lodestone is the worst site to try to navigate since the days of netscape. Also, "Companies" is quite a common term.

Nice to see that letter. I am glad that for the most part, they are all doing well. I wish them the & their families the best in recovering from this disaster. Their dedication to still wanting to make this game better is admirable despite all that is happening and they definitely have my respect.

So a thread directing people who might not check all the forum areas has turned into a childish argument about a couple sentences that were typed.

How about everybody slow down, and take a few deep breaths.

I look at the producers letter this way:

They were working their rear-ends off to deliver two patches within a few short weeks, and despite the disaster that has essentially put an entire country in disaster recovery mode, they still see the need to inform us about what we can expect in the near future.

it gives us the same info we have known all along, that companies are coming, and they will be seperate from shells, but no real info beyond that
no date of release, no solid features involved in it, nothing

so keep going, im waiting for the proof of this bait and switch you claim happened

They are troopers, a earthquake, a tsunami, and nuclear power plant problems, and they are expecting a delay of only one to two weeks? That's amazing.

I wonder if the companies will be part of the various factions, like the horn and hand? or will be part of npc companies that track their activity for bonuses, like in Conquest?

From what I know, companies or grand companies (like this name better) Are like gathering a few Linkshells together abd make a guild. They are basically ffxiv guilds. These will be more for event focus, such as the end game. Much like WoW has. If they keep to what they said you can only join 1 gand company. but many different linkshells as there will be alot more to them then just a Linkshell. That is all the info I read since tanaka said them.
