You can clear most of the dungeon content "just fine" with whole party smashing their heads against keyboard (or everyone using just 1 ability throughout the dungeon). Doesn't mean that's recommended or acceptable way of participating in team content. :)

Wrong.

I upload most stuff to my logs out of habit, dungeons included even if they still aren't ranked or processed properly yet.

DPS will do anywhere from 1.5k (worst case) up to around 4k (best case) with 3k-3.5k being a typical decent number.

Tanks typically do anywhere from 0.8k up to 2k. 1.5k is the typical norm for a decent tank.

I'll openly admit that I only ever heal roulettes, I don't bother with DPS/Tank jobs for the most part so I can only go by the numbers I do. I'll typically average between 2.5k and 3k DPS across the run on WHM unless things are going severely wrong somewhere (Aka significantly under geared tank that I need to babysit or agro issues).

By all means have a look at my logs, all the proof is there to back up my claims.

Also, it's even harder to take you seriously when you not only have the troll Au Ra face, but a cool story bro hat as well ;)

It's difficult to believe that even now we have members of the player base who are so literal-minded when it comes to roles.

Tank, Healer, and DPS do not exist in silos; they quite obviously interact with the environment and with each other. For example, these people who want to lop off an entire branch of healer abilities when they enter group play continue to baffle me.

If you choose to do nothing but heal in situations where full healing uptime is not required, you are choosing to do less and are allowing your party to pick up your slack. Being a healer is an important job and all, but there's no reason to be a diva.

Yep, and when faced with the idea that the duty lockout is 30 minutes vs likely 1+ hour Ala Mhigo run. You can decide which is acceptable.

I will wait for two or three pulls to make sure that the tanks and dps either aren't lagging, tanks using proper cool downs, that they aren't idiots (standing in AOE, not from lag), etc. If you value your dps too much to move out of them, then I'll be kept busy anyway. Though if they (DPS, not tanks) catch me on an off day where I'm grumpy, I just put Aspected Benefic on them for the regen and help dps. If they die, they die. And usually they do. But I don't get that grumpy very often.


If tanks are using their proper cool downs, I will help dps even on the large pulls, as long as Earthly Star and Largesse are available. If they aren't, I usually still have to use Earthly Star, Largesse and Synastry just to keep them alive. And I'll throw a DoT on the highest health mob IF I feel like I can spare a second to do so without the tank dying. A few times when I've tried that, I had Essential Dignity ready. But that one second was literally all it took. Their health dropped so fast. I even used Essential Dignity, and saw that they were healed for 17k-ish, and it went on cool down, but they still died anyway as though I hadn't used it at all. Just like the old Benediction.

So yes, if a healer isn't helping DPS, maybe look at what you (as tank or DPS jobs) are doing.

I also hate those unpredictable tanks. They pull one group and stand there for 10 seconds. So I put Regen on them, thinking they're doing small pulls. But nope. Then they run off to the next pack and pull them. Meanwhile the DPS are going ham on one mob, so the tank loses hate and now I have to babysit everyone. And then since the tank still has Regen on, the new pack all come running at me. The tank eventually gets most of them, but at least one or two are still on me and the tank gives up after one or two tries of getting them off of me. Or, if they're more experienced, they actually do get all of them off of me. But I'm still playing catch up. And whether or not we still survive the pulls depends on whether I had to use Lucid Dreaming above 90% mp for the enmity reduction, and if so, whether or not I get lucky and pull an Ewer card.

I could go on and on about different scenarios.

TL;DR: If the healer isn't helping DPS, think if you could do something differently to make them feel like it's safe to help. If you feel you're doing what you should, look at the other two.

Yes, some healers won't help DPS even on the most perfect of situations. That's boring to me. But it's their choice.

I have never seen a dungeon take an hour, even when we were pulling single groups and I was only sporadically DPSing as a healer. The only way you'd take an hour to clear Ala Mihgo or any other dungeon is if you have multiple wipes because you have 2+ newbies in the group trying to learn, say, Zenos... or your DPS are severely under par DPS-wise, maybe because they are barely geared for the instance.

But when the Lv70 quest offers a full left side of 290 gear... there's no excuse for that. But, I suppose some people will Q up for Ala Mihgo the second they ding 70 without even bothering doing their class quest. I suppose that is possible.... but I've not seen it yet.

Worst I think was like a ~35 minute dungeon. Single-pull tank using mostly threat stuff, and two "meh" DPS. Except for my very first Ala Mihgo clear, that was ~45min but we had 3 wipes on Zenos because the healer just couldn't keep themselves alive, lol. We won on the 4th try because of me spamming Clemency on the healer every time they got hit.

Backwards train of thoughts. Don't make me laugh. I never said healers shouldn't DPS, and the only point I was trying to make was exactly what you just said yourself. PF sucks eggs and I will always opt for a static over impatient whiners.

The way I make statements can be difficult I agree. It just seemed odd that you were disagree/agreeing with me lol.
