What isn't a valid choice? Doing dungeons?
Haven't we spammed the dungeons this entire time to begin with? You do the same with the newer dungeons.
Roulette's still give you a good boost without being bored of your mind
running PoTD. When I DPS, I have fun and learn my rotation as a DPS. PoTD
teaches me nothing, nor is it fun. I rather have FUN than fall asleep on my Keyboard.

So that's why I don't understand the OP's "I don't have time" thing.
Jumping to 60 makes no difference because you still need TIME to get to 70 and rinse/repeat
the same stuff we've been doing for years...but now, it's "NEW" expansion smell people are wanting to get
and people wanna get to the end like everyone else. It's their money at the end of the day.
I'm just here for the argument of time, not because of bad players and so on.

Unless you're talking about a level 70 dungeon, or atleast a level 60+ dungeon, you aren't learning your rotation in a dungeon. You're learning how to do your rotation without key elements.

For bard, you learn how to play with only two songs, possibly delaying them for bosses or whatever instead of keeping 100% uptime, and you learn to use your DPS cooldowns on a song other than wanderer's minuet.
For summoner, you learn how to manage your dreadwyrm trance in a way that doesn't necessarily consider the impact of delaying the third one and slowing down bahamut.
For samurai, you learn to use your kenki with abandon (or not at all, depending on the level), rather than considering guren cooldown, and you learn a flow that is extremely slow on kenki generation.
For blackmage, you don't have fire 4, blizzard 4 or enochian until 60, and dont have ruin until 70. The rotation doesn't even resemble what you do after 60 at 59.
For paladin, you don't learn anything about incorporating a holy spirit window into your physical damage rotation.

Need I go on?

The only things you learn about playing jobs at low level is how not to do it at high level.

PotD is far better at teaching people how to play their job than dungeons pre-60 could ever hope to be. How to play their role will get jammed down their throat in the dungeons from 60-70 and in endgame.

From what I've read and seen, people do PoTD just to level their jobs to about 60 from 51-60 runs.
As someone who has done that a few times and overall stopped because the boredom, it taught me nothing as
mobs die instantly. The boss takes maybe a minute tops. I never heard anyone go out their way to do PoTD
to learn their Job...News to me.

In fact it's even more repeatitive for the gearing process as you will just do over and over the same few end-game instances, while leveling you can revisit about every different dungeons and areas from level 15 to 70.

As I was saying in my previous post, FF XIV is a Story based RPG where you level up your character classes. If leveling should be irrelevant then it should be completely removed from the game and every one should have the same level (or no level at all) from the start. But for me that would a different game, not anymore a game has been designed and sold as "leveling up" game.

As for considering a hybrid version where you can optionally buy job potions from the Mogstation, while keeping the leveling process intact. I am against it as well because it directly change the experience and fairness of the game based on how much one can spend on the Mogstation.

For me every player should fairly level up the same way. So either everyone can choose to freely skip leveling (which will change the base concept of the game and probably render lower area even more desertic), or nobody.

The only compromise I can understand is for new or ancient returning players who directly wants to play the last released content or join high level friends. But for that, the one unique potion existing is enough.

New and ancient players are the ones who SHOULD be leveling. They should PLAY the game and do the storyline. Not boost through it.

The ones who have already compleated the story and want to play other jobs are the ones who should be allowed to boost them. They have already played the main part of the game...the story. They understand the mechanics of the game and will get a grasp of the job a lot sooner.

Cause chocoly was stating that games are about the story the creaters have made for you...or the journey, or whats the point in playing the game if you skip the very reason why the game was created, I agree with this 100%. I loved the storyline in this game and it actually felt more like an interactive movie with how long some of the cut scenes were. I personally am really glad I didnt skip any of it. Which is why if your new or way behind you should actually play the game for the reason it was made.

But...for those who have already compleated the journey and played through the game they should be allowed to skip the some of the grindy part of the game.

I boosted my white mage to 60 without ever playing one. Guess what? I haven't wiped a single time in any primal or dungeon (yet) and I am done with the main story. Some people complain just to complain
